ENDED Free Rider World Cup 4

Making some comments about the round soon. Congrats to the winners!

 

First of all, major thanks to Eryp for making such a brilliant track, that is not only part of the contest, but it joined the "Feature Club", haha. Congrats on the feature, man! Well deserved!

Now, about the round, it was a fun one.

In group 1, we had some really good surprises. We had Slayed vs Selesele/Polarized and it didn't go in the same way as the poll, haha. With the 25th and 26th overall time, it was a close call, but Polarized took the W.
We also had DblU vs Uniior and Uniior did a pretty good job with a 54.27, the 13th best time on the match, that was enough to beat DblU.

PS: Slayed and DblU, you guys still have time, just pay attention to the calendar in the main post

In group 2, the things went as planned, at least following the results of the poll. First, Cork beat Flower-shirt without much trouble. In the other match, that probably has the bar set at the highest level of this round 1, and it is the only match that has 2 players currently on the Official Featured Ghosts list. It was Odala vs Calm.Wizard. In a really solid battle, Calm.Wizard got a 54.20 (12th best time overall) and Odala took the W with an awesome 53.90 (9th place overall). This group is awesome! Looking forward to see who are going to be the top 2.

In group 3, the things went as expected by the polls, but not without some drama in one of the matches. Sannin was the absolutely favorite against Netsik, and he did his part. Got the 1st place overall for the people in the contest, but Netsik didn't complete the track. So, as it's set in the rules in the main post, Netsik loses 1 point. Win for Sannin. In the other match it was me against demimondance. Despite demimondance getting a better time than me in the Qualifiers, people believed (by 22 to 3 votes) that I would beat him.

It was a fun battle, I improved my time 2 or 3 times before demimondance ghosted the track, and when he did, he got something about a 56 seconds ghost, and I was chilling with my 54.97. With just a few hours remaining he got a 54.67, and I did a 54.33 and then a 54.27 a couple of hours before it was over. A few minutes after it was over I got a 53.97, but it was already too late. Anyways, fair play to demimondance, let's go guys!

In group 4, Calculus did as good as expected, with an awesome 53.4. weem did well, with a 54.67, but it wasn't enough. In the other match, ShamatoZ did his thing with a nice 54.17, that was supposed to be enough to beat Inactive, who had to leave the contest. ei8ht replaced him, but still couldn't beat ShamatoZ. Good stuff, guys!

In group 5, we had the most unexpected and funniest result of them all. With all due respect to everyone, most people expected the 1st placed in the Qualifiers Anonyymi to beat the 32nd placed in the Qualifiers ZPresley. We clearly had people rooting for ZPresley as we can see looking at the poll, so congrats to you ZPresley. As for Anonyymi, you will might have to win the next 2 matches to qualify, so that should be fun.
And one of the reasons it should be fun has a name, and it's Pie42. I picture the match between Pie42 vs Wolf777 as a really cool duel, and despite some favoritism for Pie42, the results were really insane. With one of the best ghost I have seen from him ever, Pie42 got the overall 2nd place among the contestants, with an awesome 52.70. So much respect for you, man! Wolf777 did good as well, being one of our best mobile players for a while. 55.13 isn't a bad time at all, so congrats to both of you.

In group 6, it went as expected. spruce crushed the poll against panda_rider, and so did FunBunOne against Exylies. With some great times from the favorites, spruce/dumptruck did the 4th best ghost, a 53.03, showing that he is back to cause some trouble in this contest, and also FunBunOne did the 7th best ghost with a 53.67. Great job by Exylies with 54.60, and panda_rider with a 55.03. Solid group.

In group 7, Ultraviolet easily beat NewGoblin, confirming his favoritism. In the other match, we had what it could have been one of the best duels of the group stage. BrendanMagill did an INSANE job with a 52.9, that get him the overall 3rd place on this round. But Chaos-Fallen didn't show up, so he loses 1 point. But great job by BrendanMagill!

In group 8, it went as expected. TuttiFruity beat LightningBerk with a great time (53.83 - 8th overall). Also, Backtwice did a solid comeback, doing the 5th best time overall, a 53.37. As the only player besides Anonyymi that can get his second title on this contest, that's a good impression for the Group Stage.
