New New Year, New Rank

i'm looking to make the "Elite Author" rank a reality for you guys this month as a new year gift

Char and i will be working through january to make this happen. i currently have the ability to grant users the rank on the forum, but i think it should be reflected on the database to match. so he will aim to use some wizardry to turn the silver star for "Official Author" on the users profile, to a gold star for "Elite Author" and i will have the ability make that happen for anybody suitable

i think it would be quite special to have people browsing someone's tracks and noticing they're looking at an "Elite Authors" profile page

it's 2020, so to start with we will have 20 brand new Elite Authors. what i need from you guys are some votes and suggestions, comment whoever you feel might be worthy of the new title and i will look through them all and pick a top 20

maybe this could be given as an award for first feature? along with the "recognized trackmaker" medal?

Good idea, there should be a seperate award called 'featured trackmaker' or something once you get a feature
e; and then the best of the best would get elite author status.

 

I agree with this, giving everyone an equal shot at getting this if they're willing to put the effort into it.

 

then add some features for trackmaking that only elite authors could use, like some exclusive vehicles and sticky terrain or something (yeah i know my ideas are bad)

or even a new kind of bike (maybe a dirtbike?)

 

Also pssst and figured need the “top track-maker” medal as they met the criteria (Lascaux was a collab with figured and Subharmonic (redux) was a collab with pssst

 

how about pinn and eli first?

So is elite author like a tier below VIP and a tier above OA? Or is it inclusive for VIPs as well? This would greatly determine who id vote for the role

i think a little extra for now for the new Elite Authors, i'll grant them the ability to create a custom title under their username on the forum. to replace "member" or "well-known member" etc
