This has probably been requested before, however it's really bugging me. You should be able to move the thumbnail to your favourite area of the track;Instead of it showing just the start. I realise this may just be a minor issue and will probably be resolved later, but it's little things like this which really bug some people ( I'm not the only one am I?).
*3r4nd0n* ALREADY BEEN SUGGESTED BEFORE MAYBE YOU SHOULD LOOK AROUND THE FORUMS BEFORE YOU SUGGRST AN IDEA DUMMY GOSH WOW NOOB But anyway, I agree. Sometimes it can attract members to your track.
I agree with this idea, but it's ALREADY BEEN SUGGESTED BEFORE MAYBE YOU SHOULD LOOK AROUND THE FORUMS BEFORE YOU SUGGRST AN IDEA DUMMY GOSH WOW NOOB
I know this isn't relevant, but what do you get to do when you become an official author? Like quat are the 'perks'?
Free track uploads, a star next to your name on your profile and access to a forum section that only Officials can see.
Yeah, this is something we are going to put in at some point. The reason we didn't do this in the first place was due to time. All the image rendering is done on the backend, on the server. It is done this way so that people couldn't hack the system and upload inappropriate content. Such things happened in another game that shall not be named.
C'mon guys, the store is cool and all but shouldn't proper thumbnails be one of the top priorities at this point? Is this gonna happen in the near future?
Yeah yeah. Its on the back burner because its take a bit of time to develop that feature properly, and does not impact all users. There is two ways to do it. 1) Take a snapshot on the front-end in javascript , and upload the image. This is far too easy to hack due to the nature of processing images on the client side. http://canvasrider.com/tracks/52215 Check out that thumbnail. I / we don't want to have to monitor the images on the site, making sure "mature content" etc is uploaded. 2) Take a snapshot on the server. (Currently the way we do it now, impossible to hack) . Only difference is that the user doesn't have control over the coordinates that the snapshot is taken. I would like to introduce a flow that allows a user to choose the coordinates. It's just a matter of figuring out a good flow and I have to rewrite the image processor. Give it some time ... I would also like to see users choose this.
There is already bad content being uploaded. I can't wait for the movable thumbnail! About the bad content. You should choose a group of people to take of bad content that is uploaded. overkillhd is uploading some pretty bad stuff. He/ she is not the only one doing it.
People will always post bad content, and its not that bad of a problem. Happened all the time in CR. As long as it doesn't make trending or any other big category its okay. Can you report tracks?
