Your leaves are drawn at the same density on the whole tree, vary it and leave some areas white. Right now your trees have no lighting which makes it look dry. Erase the stem of the tree in areas that the leaves are covering it. Before you start detailing the trees I strongly recommend drawing and perfecting an interesting outline to the leaves, it makes a huge difference in the final product. stem>foliage outline>detail over grey outline> perfect shape>shade.
Too symmetrical, try to make it look more varied / random. Most pines don't grow like perfect fractals or anything Also agree with Pinn's advice, vary your shading and tools too maybe
I agree with pinn and shep. Also make sure your leaves all have the same consistency. Figure out if your tree needs pine needles or rounder leaves, because it looks messy if you mix the two
After a few google searches I have come to the conclusion that this is a good tree, if intending to draw an Abies Procera aka noble fir Noble firs like this are rare though now, outside of the Rocky Mountains due to most firs of this kind being bred to make Christmas trees.
Yeah I was quite bothered with that. This type of pine I thought would suit leaves better than the "needles". And I do find trouble varying my pine design, I always try to make it look similar, to prevent it being different from the rest - (That's what you're telling me to do (!))
pinn I never thought of drawing an outline. I just went straight into it. Will keep that in mind. Also, what settings did you put in for the leaves? Could you show me via print screen? e.g:
People, I am still working on the super-large scale track I've teased twice here. I really need some experienced players (read: much better than me) to test it and give feedback. The detailing won't be done for a long time, but I'm trying to finally finish adding parts and solidify a final draft of the "ride". If anyone is willing to playtest a little for me, just let me know. Thanks a ton. Also, any detailing advice is highly appreciated. I'm trying to create different looks for areas of the track, but dang if all my rocks don't look exactly the same. Image is a small section of the track, one of the "oldest" parts!
Call to action mudkip Backtwice mR..A Also Im glad youre making something really long. How long is it by your estimate rn?
This concept works for pretty much anything u wanna draw. Basically you just want to make the outline detailed enough to follow, but easy enough to delete and redo if one part doesnt turn out right
It takes a while to "warm up" every time I go back into playing and adding to the track, but a couple minutes easily just by the sheer amount of distance I force the player to travel (in theory). Right now it's only 114kb in a text file though. *EDIT: Just beat it in 8:20 but I did a little bit of editing and lots of bad play during that, so that's a high estimate.
I'd like to imagine I'll do something cool with this but god knows my motivation only lasts so long so we'll see. Inspiration crazy af from my recent trip to Estonia / Finland with noob and bt. I need ideas for the ride, perhaps I'll hit up Pancakes345 for some skatepark type stuff? U up for that my man?
I cant do this for trees, I find they dont look very good. It's cool hearing how people detail the same sort of thing Zgolex I have basically the same settings as you, only trail speed is at max Also pinn that explanation was brilliant
workin on my horror entry, need some feedback. i was thinkin of putting a refrence to a lot of the books in each section of the track camp nightmare one day at horrorland monster blood the track is gonna be a jumps track, about 46 sec at the moment when you dont use any checkpoints. gimme ideas and feedback plz. i feel i need something that will shine me out from the competition, but i cant decide what
awesomeman82 Horrorland was definitely a good book in the series. But I vaguely remember the story. I assume there was various monsters haunting rides and stuff, but Im not sure. A theme park would be a great base for a track though. One of my personal favorites is Horror at Camp Jellyjam. I vaguely remember it as it being a camp where the counselors were in cahoots with some big monster made of jelly, i assume jabba the hut looking who eats the kids. Plus the counselor on the cover creeped me out as a kid: Spoiler A camp is also the setting for Ghost Camp. Maybe something you could throw in with camp nightmare. Another couple favorites of mine are Say Cheese and Die and the short story Click. Young Ryan Gosling plays in the televison show version of Say Cheese and Die, and both are just really thought provoking. Anyways loads of content from the Goosebumps series.
@awsesomeman82 I have read the originals Welcome to Dead House Night of the Living Dummy II Ghost Beach
Is that so? Looking back at the foliage I did, I thought they were too "cartoon-like", and I wanted to aspire to more rustic, "lifelike" leaves. And I had no idea that producing such foliage was achieved using the line tool. Learn something new everyday lol
