How Elite Author should be done: (and update to OA)

Along with the star next to official author on your profile you have another (gold, yellow) star representing elite author:



On the front page, like the popular author showcase, either replace it or add a new showcase. The elite author showcase, which switches author every 24 hours: (when a new elite author is named, it automatically switches to his/hers)



You may also see there^ that you took your stars with you, thats for everyone on the database to recognize whos official and elite author.

e; Forgot to mention. Official author would become automatic upon registering for forum.

the gold star isnt swag enough, the author name itself should be a different color- maybe orange? its a throwback to the db and it complements the new blue layout

True. spruce doesnt receive backdated credit for winning the first OC.

 

Should I receive elite for winning the official contest or not?

 

How elite author would be received:

To start off 1 to 3 would have it automatically, probably Stig, Maple and @max.

Then we would have a official contest where they/one of them host and judge. The top 3 of this contest also receive elite author. This contest would be held annually during the summer or winter breaks, where the majority of people (not me) have the most free time.

Aside from the official contests, contests with enough recognition or following, ie the Remix Contest, could potentially be 'de facto' official contests, but could only reward 1 elite author. If hosted by an elite author themselves.

Elite author is also an award that can be won multiple times. As posted above, the gold stars, multiple gold or different color stars could be on their profile based on the times and contests they won.

 

Or not. Why give elite to people who won't make tracks (max, stig)

 

Plus I don't want to make another huge track just to get a little star next to my name, I think I have proven myself worthy.

 

Arent these condradictory statements

 

at least it's a way for people to feel special, unlike OA when it's given to everybody including people who don't deserve it..

 

Just give it to those who have a feature and are still active

 

Lol, OA is equivalent to participation award

 

I think there should be a level just below that, so authors who are still good and don't have time for a contest or have left the game, so they don't look as bad as some authors who can't detail for their life.
