Could someone help me figure out a way to shade this 2d island, to make it look 3d? I just cant work it out.
You cant shade something thats 2d into something thats 3d, without definition. so in order to shade something in 3d, you need to draw the outlines of the 3d shapes that the shade would come from. (shade is always placed at the opposite side of an object(s) facing a constant imaginable sun, or lightsource) i drew a quick example (which to my defense was drawn in 2 mins with a touchpad). i realized the shade isnt completely right, as i didnt consider it myself since i kinda drew on autopilot. but it looks ok anyways since the 3d definition is there, which actually allows me to place out a lot of shade. Spoiler: example To draw in 3d, you draw formations that not only go left, right, up and down (2d), but also in the directions towards and away from you. If I were you, I would only have started by attempting to draw tracks in 3d and chilled with the shading until i got the hang of the 3d. It's not actually hard if you make some reflections about it before you start throwing the draw tool around. besides its the ability to draw things in 3d that really separates the good trackmakers from the mediocre ones. so if you really wish to be one of the best you should practice it alot.
