Hello all,
For any of you around last year, I did a picture box contest around this time where contest where you had to make a track within a small box template. The contest was relatively short, but it had plenty of entries, so I have decided to hold another one. There were many issues with the last contest, which was to be expected seeing as it was my first contest, however, I kinda know what I'm doing now. Anyway, read on if you are interested.
PS, please share this to get some more people to enter. More people = more prizes
PICTURE BOX CONTEST
Section 1 - Contest Guidelines:
- The goal of the contest is to create a track within the given template that shows artistic ability and good track design concepts.
- You MUST use the template provided. The entire track must be contained within the box, and no changes are to be made to the shape of the box or the area outside of it. Any violation of this rule will be automatically disqualified.
- You may not move the star or starting point either. You may add additional stars, but the star present in the template is not to be moved.
- NO autos, wheelies, hold up's, etc are allowed. Please create a track that requires the rider to actually play. Also grounds for automatic disqualification.
- For an entry to be considered, you must pay the 100 coin entrance fee (see prizes section)
- All entries are due by a firm deadline of Sunday, April 16th at 1:00pm Eastern Standard Time (US and Canada)
TEMPLATE:
Code:
-18 1i 18 1i,-18 -18 -18 -8e io -8e,no -8e io -8e,no 68 -18 68 -18 1i,148 1i 130 1i 11o 1i,148 1i 148 68 no 68,148 -8e no -8e,148 -8e 148 -18#-18 -18 -18 1i,148 -18 148 1i#T 148 0
If clarification on any of the rules is needed, please tag me in a post on this thread with the question and I will update the thread and respond accordingly.
Section 2 - Judging Criteria:
My last PBC did not go so well partly due to me not properly explaining the judging criteria. Each track will be graded on a 15 point scale by two judges (
zeke15 and
Todredrob), added together for a total of 30 points. The 15 points are broken down into 5 points for detail/artistic ability, 5 points for flow/track design, and 5 points for track integration. Here is the "rubric":
- Detail/Artistry - 5 points - This section will be graded based on your ability to draw neatly and cohesively. Show us your artistic talent by creating unique track designs and detail with your own style. Make sure your entry is neat, and elegant to receive the most points in this section.
- Flow/Track Design/Ride - 5 points - This section will be graded based on how well your the ride of your track fits together. This does not mean "too hard or too easy". It means that your track was well thought out, consistent in its difficulty, and has a logical flow throughout. Make sure your track is free of rough lines, gaps in the path, etc to achieve maximum points in this section.
- Track Integration - 5 points - This section will be graded based on how well you combine the flow and ride of your track with the artistic picture you are portraying. You should try to make your track fit with the detail, and vice versa. Having a beautiful picture with no track besides a helicopter will cause you to do poorly. Make sure your detail matches your ride and that the ride is part of your drawing to receive the best possible score in this section.
Once again, if there are any questions, please tag me in a post on this thread.
Section 3 - Prizes:
The prizes on this contest will work slightly different from most contests. The way it works is that each contestant must pay 100 coins up submitting their entry. These coins then go into a pot that will be added up depending on the total number of players who submit entries. If you do not pay 100 coins, your entry will not be considered. I will personally be contributing 2000 coins to the pot. Larger donations are welcome.
CURRENT POT: 12,831 coins
At the conclusion of the contest, the top 10 entries will be ranked and you will receive a percentage of the coin pot based on your position:
1st place - 50%
2nd place - 20%
3rd place - 10%
4th place - 5%
5th Place - 3%
6th-10th - 2%
The top 3 entries will also receive a high resolution desktop background/banner of their choice made by yours truly.
Thus, the more people who enter, the more coins you will get for winning because the pot will be larger. I will keep track of who has payed their entry fee along with their track submission. To submit the coins, go to the shop page on the freeriderhd.com site and watch a video for coins. This will momentarily give you access to the pro account, so you can go to your profile and send the coins.
Section 4 - Other Info
The template of this track was designed so that the individual tracks could be combined to form one large one. At the conclusion of this contest, I will be using the code from the top 10 entries, combining them, and publishing a track that showcases the entries, in order from 1st to 10th. By entering this contest, you are automatically consenting to my use of your track code for this purpose.
Please say "in" in the thread if you plan to enter the contest. I will create a list that keeps track of contestants, coins submissions, and track submissions.
It would be very helpful if you decided to share this with friends so we can get plenty of people to join!
