The FRHD News: Interviews + VER!

VER CONTEST
VER stands for Very Experienced Riders. VER is a group that 6 other members and I put together. It is basically an Official Author status, but for riders. The whole point of the group is to encourage other riders to try to be better, and to get bragging rights. VER will be holding a contest to add members to the group. We have a plan for what is going to happen. In short, we will be making all sorts of tracks that have different difficulties. You will have to ride each track in a certain amount of time in every track. I will right a thread on this when we are ready. Once in VER you can't just stop being good. We won't kick you out of the group, but you probably won't get in if you don't want to keep being good.

It gets better. You know that little star by an Official Authors name. I asked Char if we could put a little image by our name if you are in VER. He said yes! He said that they could add that feature later on. This little image will show that you are an awesome rider! Once this gets implemented, the encouragement to become part of VER will grow! I am not going to name who is in VER right now, but it might be obvious for some members. We are excited to get things going at VER. We need your support to keep it going though!

Track Maker of the day
goes to GarrettTrush (Is a forum member because of The FRHD News!) for his Mountianside Easier track. This detailed track uses gravity arrows to make for a smooth and enjoyable ride.

Top 5 trending tracks:

today there is an unusual occurrence: all but one of the tracks in the Top 5 Trending Tracks from last issue have retained their position!

• #5 is the New one. It is Silent Night by Max007x . I don't really know how to discripe this track, other than it is a water track where the biker has to collect all the stars. He also made a forum post on it here
• #4 is Cannon by mudkip2 . It is surprisingly simple, all it is are boosts that shoot the bike out of a "cannon" into the star
• #3 goes to Sumatran Rainforest by Forlorn333 This track is very short, but it's strong point is eye candy. It's detail is superb. It was also #2 2 issues ago
• #2 is The City by cahir (not a forum mebmber, YET). This track utilizes some backtracking techniques to make the ride longer and more enjoyable. It also features a good amount of checkpoints. This track was also #1 2 issues ago! Not an easy feat! try this track out!s
• And #1 is... Gravity Mania by LucJohnson . this has some pretty awesome tiers, and it utilizes gravity (duh) and "track-re-usage" to make this track seem different and unique

• War and War #2: The Hills by... well... Me (FREEZ ) in these tracks you are a soldier who has to complete an objective, then make it back. PS: I am not self-advertising. If only 1 person Thinks I am I will remove these tracks from the list. I have just had lots of people say they "like" it

FRHD News Interviews!
today we have something new for you FRHD News readers: The FRHD News interviews! For today our interviewer " JacobCahoon " interviewed the legendary Max007x !

Jacob: Why did you choose the username max007x?
Max007x : I came up with my username max007x when I needed an account name for Runescape which is quite a long time ago. My first name is Max so I decided to include that, and at the time I was a fan of the James Bond movies so I added the 007 behind my name. Sadly, the name was already in use so I had to add something to it, which ended up being an 'x' because that's obviously the coolest letter.

J: Okay, second question: How did you come up with you latest track?
M: That's a bit of a long story. A few months ago I decided to check back on canvas rider to see if there was still anyone there after taking a 2 year break. I saw a thread about black hat rider and asked someone for an invite. Over there there was a contest going on where you were given part of a code and had to extend that code. It was a part of one of graggen's tracks. I decided to give detailing that track a shot and it ended up looking like this:

I Liked the idea of lot's of trees in the background and decided to make a track like this one. That's how I started working on silent night. It was supposed to be a 2d swamp track with the background covered in trees. I took some inspiration from google by searching for swamps. After a while it became more 3d and the swamp lake became more of a calm ocean and in the end it turned out the way it looks now. As you can see, it's not what I started out to make but I'm quite happy with the result !

J: wow. Are you a self-taught artist? If not, where and how did you learn?
M: Yeah I mostly am. I always enjoyed drawing but I mostly draw people and creatures and they're not really of high quality. The way I got better at drawing in this game is by drawing a lot in the game itself. I think I'm better at drawing on free rider than in real life haha. J:Hey, how long did it take to make "Silent Night"?
M: I think I started June or July with working on this one, but it was with a lot of breaks. I work a maximum of an hour a day on my tracks and sometimes I don't do anything for a week or two. It sure did take a long time to make this track though, especially with all the erasing going on !

J: what is your favorite track that anyone other than you made?

Both aren't on HD sadly but these tracks are my favorites. Both are huge and feel like an adventure. I hope to one day make a track of this size.

J: Okay, Last question: what is your favorite track that you made?
M: Country Cycling is my favorite track to ride and http://www.freeriderhd.com/t/4489-contest-entry is the track I think I'm the most proud of because it took the longest to draw and because of the originality. I also really like how silent night turned out.

I remember back in like '08 when I believe surfingrocks tried to do a FR2DB newspaper and he did an interview with someone, I do wonder what it'd be like.
