omg you're less direct than trump in the first debate

 

I'm so sick of this debate, it's been going on for around 6 months (the entire run-up, not this thread) and is a perfect example of how the American general election has been turned in to a twisted, infantile popularity contest; can't we just accept that America is going to be screwed either way, and stop trying to choose between the shiniest of two turds.

I just think that it's funny how Britain had an unelected prime minister, and hardly anyone gave a ****, meanwhile in the USA people are arguing over promises not yet put in to motion, while I agree that these candidates consider different things with varying levels of importance, I believe that these interests will end up being meaningless as the party continues the campaign for a re-election, trying to please everyone they can, during their term. I didn't get the southpark or giant meteor thing, but I'm sure they were both hilarious. Also, how is this not you disagreeing with me?

 

"Also, how is this not you disagreeing with me?" statements like "we're all screwed anyway" are bland platitudes of political apathy. the image attacks that aspect of them, that they basically express a defeatist apathetic response rather than take a stance on any issue in a meaningful way. it's obviously not saying that no one will ever disagree with you expressing those sentiments...........

it's inane to think that a trump presidency and a clinton presidency would be the same and i seriously struggle to understand how people come to that conclusion. unless you think both candidates would accomplish literally nothing from their itineraries & would react the exact same way to each event, it's pretty absurd, especially when you consider that even if the only job of the president was to replace supreme court justices then our choice of president would still directly impact the laws of our country for years to come

if you're part of some outsider school of political thought & thus take issue with both candidates that's fine; if you take issue with obstructionism, bureaucracy, and/or just think govt. in ineffective altogether that's fine too, but reductive statements like "can't we just accept that America is going to be screwed either way, and stop trying to choose between the shiniest of two turds" are really dumb imo - even if the differences in their presidencies wouldn't affect you, there would still be real (& in many cases, very important) differences

 

Okay, I'm not going to try to argue against that, you're right; these debates are being drawn out way too long and are irritating me.

There is no proof that he has done anything other than the most changeable, loose, and unbelievable type of evidence, word of mouth.
