I'm going to make alot of things clear to you, and save char alot of trouble explaining all this for you.
1. Without the hot section, the majority of tracks would end up with far less votes/plays than they are already receiving, as alot of tracks would fly by undiscovered in the "newest"-section. it would not only negatively affect the noobs, but also your tracks. everyone would reveive far less plays and likes. the average time a user spends on frhd at a time, would also drastically decrease, as there's less to check upon. the hot and trending lists are two highly different lists, which both are neccessary.
2. Objectively, the featured tracks list is not more important than the trending list. The trending list represents what the
majority enjoys to play, while the featured tracks are picked by only a handful, with different subjective opinions that have been bred through years of gameplay and, forum- norms and expectations. To have trending above and more prioritized than featured is a natural choice, maybe not to any of us, but for FRHD. this is why officials have featured at the top and not regulars. its a bit of a flop imo tho (dont tell char ssh), since basicly everyother user is official. most officials dont have different track preferences than noobs.
3. Paying authors would most likely not be anything that kano can afford, considering all the expenses there are for just maintaing the website, and developing this game. And what guarantee is there that people would suddenly and magically grow better, while managing to create tracks that appeal to the majority of the members? it's without doubt a solid 0%
Besides, why would anyone pay someone for something they are doing volunteerly already, and what would change if they actually got paid
4. Eventhough the game could have needed more workers, i highly doubt that making more people spending their time on FRHD would be economically beneficial. If they were to place more people on the projects, you would have to expect ALOT more ads++ to finance that extra coworker.
What char can spend his working time on, regarding the development of FRHD, is also highly restricted. There's no point in paying someone for doing work that brings less income, than it brings outcome. So say that char spends an entire workday working on re-arranging the frontpage, switching places btw trending, featured etcetc, VS working on the mobile app. What do you think ends up bringing in more money, if any, to kano? If he was re-arranging the frontpage, it would be zero, and they would still have to pay him a days wage.
sidenote; ive actually asked to become more involved in the marketing-aspect of frhd myself, by making the frhd social medias more active. i have some personal plans and strategies on how i can use platforms such as the fb-page to increase popularity to frhd. just waiting for the boss' go/no-go right now.
