I think that replicating the style is ok, but when you copy the track or obvious pieces—shun...

Here's a pretty basic way to draw bark:
      Capture.PNG
Step 1: draw a tombstone-looking shape with an open top
Step 2: keep adding the "tombstones" on top
Step 3: use crescents to show a connection to the trunk
      Step 4: shade

I recommend using a lot of curves; the double curve works quite well as a way to visibly connect branches and roots to the tree trunk. You can shade the rest of the tree, but don't cross your shading lines because the bark won't look as convincing. Keep your bark lines vertical, too. You can also use ovals for the same purpose as the curves.

You can just draw a faint outline of the mountains, that's what I do.

Just as a general tip to newer OA's, on page one there are quite a few really good tutorials and videos that Maple kept. Go and have a look, and although it will take a while maybe filter through some of the older posts as well. Youll find some really neat tips from Cataclysm, Sono, xwinx etc

Also could lessen the contrast of the pipe opening by making the banks of the stream black. Just a thought, kinda looks like it's floating right now.

Shade it like a regular rock. Maybe make the pipe more rocky and uneven.

that looks like it might be quite small. I'd make it bigger. Especially if you're drawing on the CR editor, keep in mind that the zoom on this game is further out.

It's supposed to be small it's kindA out of the way of the track and I just put it in as eye candy

If it's out of the way, keep the focus on the main ride and maintain a scarce amount of detail on sections that are out of the way.

Yeah but it appears to be right next to the track so there's no distance between it and the rider, making the rider look huge. Anything in the immediate foreground should be bigger

Does anyone have tips for this house. I'm going for something like the beginning of this track but I just can't make anything look good.
If you have any tips, please share!
