    http://frhd.co/t/597025-blob-challenge-2/r/deeznutsforprez I'm back again baby.
Now for a backstory. Yes, this is MY alt. Now why did I use an alt? you may ask, I used it so that if I tied with my current broken ghost, that the ghost would save, but on a different account. Totoca12 said in a conversation that I have with him that it would be featured. His exact words were "Yeah, I'm pretty sure it could be featured, haha." So that is why I did it on an alt account. Don't worry about the name :D.

Hope you enjoyed my backstory. Please leave a like :D

Personally, I've never believed that "ghosting" and "spacebarring" should be treated as one and the same, rather one as an over-used technique of the other. In my opinion, Stig is correct in that spacebarring has always felt rather unethical for abusing the finer mechanics of the game. Granted "anybody can learn to use it", but it is generally pretty covert in that it's never mentioned anywhere on the game database for "unaware" members to learn about, instead being shared through comments or the occasional track description at best. Most people never join the forums, let alone the discord, and learn more about the game and community. Indeed most only play the game for a week or two and then leave.

One of the great failings that I feel the devs should never be forgiven for is that there is a complete lack of tutorial for beginners to learn about ghosting, even more so trackmaking come to that but this post is about ghosting. The campaigns only teach you the very basics, as in which keys to press to move and how to land a jump, and then after the first 20 tracks or so the difficulty unexpectedly ramps up as you realise the "tutorial" is over and the rest of the campaign is just a showcase. More advanced ghosting techniques one can only learn through experience and watching other people's ghosts, and most people never get that far before quitting.

Spacebarring when compared to all this is a pretty small issue, which is why I tend to leave it alone and even explain what it is to newer players, since if you're in any way competitive you're going to need to be aware of the technique. What I don't agree with is that some people don't seem to realise that it is just a technique, instead believing that ghosting and spacebarring are synonyms, which is true unfortunately for the higher tiers of the ghosting community, but it doesn't have to be this way. One simple fix that I've had in mind for a while is the concept of a dual leaderboard. The devs will probs never implement this sadly but the gist is that every track has one leaderboard with times as they are now, where when you click on a ghost it'll show you the replay of the person completing the track, while the other leaderboard contains times actually affected by spacebarring, where if you click on a spacebarred run you'd actually see the pauses the ghoster took as they completed their run, therefore leading to a slower time, making it more likely that a non-spacebarred run would beat them. They could be navigated by tabs, and you could perhaps have hover text explaining what spacebarring is. This would make ghosting much fairer in my opinion, as it would supply information to newer players not just on what spacebarring is, but that it is a separate technique which makes completing a track with a faster time easier to do, if one is aiming for the non-spacebar affected leaderboard. URLs could be adjusted so that frhd.co/track/r/ghoster gives the spacebar affected run, while frhd.co/track/nr/ghoster or something similar would take the space inputs away from ghost data, playing the ghost as it would appear if it were not spacebarred.
