Add a third option: "Sometimes, but not all the time"
It really depends on the situation and type of gen. You can't just have a simple yes or no answer.
Not "Yes" because as GoodraFRHD and zeke15 are pointing out, you can have all sorts of indecent gens and copyright issues. Someone could even gen another person's track.
Not "No" because there are some good gens out there, like that 'swimming' one pylondude made earlier, and they are quite fun to play and look at, as pssst says. Sure they might get into trending, but after a while they'll be gone off the home page, and in due time, most people will have forgotten them. This doesn't mean they are more fun and higher quality than player-drawn tracks. It feels much more satisfying when you observe a masterpiece and know that a fellow human has drawn it.

Phase Stig hasn't replied to this yet, and I would like to see his opinion on this thread lol

I used to think generated tracks were bad and should all be deleted, but now some of the coolest tracks, like this one https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/532372-swimming/ , are generated. So I would say the bad the ones just meant for spam or to take the largest track placing should be deleted but other than that I don't think it matters that much.

I would have to agree with the 3rd option.
Tracks that are just a converted image with a glitchy ride (like many of my early gens) don't really add to the game in my opinion. Also, after talking with Char, these tracks are a burden on the database due to their large code size (plus they don't run well on mobile).
I'm also not a fan of the generators that simply make a track wider. I have a similar generator which converts a simple track into 3D boards (https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/521981-3dness) which I think is neat so long as it doesn't get over used.
If I were to set criteria for generated tracks that should be removed they would probably be the following:
    • Any track with a glitchy ride due to line-by-line image generation (https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/514699-frhd)
    • Any track that needlessly increases strain on the database due to generated redundancies - this might be difficult to define as black & white (https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/354199-m1-c3-codepen-track)
    • Similarly themed generated tracks from the same author that cause undue strain on the database. Take for example my swimming track (https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/532372-swimming); I now have a script that can turn any video into a track. Really cool the first couple times... Not so much the 5th or 10th time.
    • I'm also against players who use others' generators. Writing a generator can be hard work - using somebody else's is just lazy.
As a side note, is there any way that we could encourage prospective track generators to practice on old sites like TrackMill?
