    *WEATHER UPDATE*
Since my last reply, it has been snowing pretty much constantly, on and off, in sheets.
There is now most definitely a foot on the ground.
I went out last night to stock up on briquettes and kindling, and it was absolute hell dragging an overloaded granny trolley through the snow. Yet even though I made some really deep ruts in the snow (and a few that cut into the grass) it has all been covered and levelled. I can't even see where the kerb starts. There's an old rusty bike on the green, and that's completely covered now, only the handlebars and the tyre of one wheel stick out. I hope nobody walks into it and gets hurt. Even the path my next-door neighbour shovelled off has gone in the space of two hours.
People are not allowed to drive after 4 pm, and everyone's worried that a power cut will happen.
As I type there is already a blizzard happening, and a fierce wind down the chimney. It's not normal British snow. That stuff's normally wetter, falls in big lumps, and is easier to make snowballs and snowmen with as it sticks better. What were're getting looks more Siberian. There's a huge mound of it heaping up outside the shed door, yet it's easy to open and push the snow aside. Try that with normal snow and it'll feel like it's wet concrete.

    Still snowing.
The snow goes up to my knees now, it's well over a foot.
I can't even see where the road is anymore. Where it, the pavement, the lawn and the green used to be is just a broad, level expanse of snow. And we have pretty high pavements.
