Actually that's not a bad idea, maybe like 5 or so officials have to recommend it? But the problem there is that not all Officials are saints lol, they may get some people to try and push for a track of theirs or something like that in which case I think there should be a Team of 10 (5 of which would be the Featured Staff) the other 5 people like alexander iTzChuckNorris pssst etc who could remove blatantly undeserving tracks from that section.

then maybe the feature could only be accessible to non-official author tracks, resolving this issue
even so, all current official authors aren't morons, so they know that if they did this, their reputation would be trashed

Yes but one official author just copied a track raising this concern for me
Edit: I don't understand what u mean about regular authors

My Input: Pick maybe 10-15 higher standard official authors. Basically anyone who has the understanding of a good track, not just some dirt jump. The thing is people take breaks sometimes and this could just crash like the news team. It could make more sense to have all the officials vote on it, but then the problems discussed above would be an issue.

I think we should have some of the more well-known official authors (and anyone from the feature team who feels like it) start this section off to give a general feel for what we are looking for in this section. We don't want it flooded with sub-par tracks. Then, later on add the minimum vote thing.

Basically what we need is another "feature" team but on a smaller scale i guess

Yeah so how many people is that and who do you classify as "well-known" it's kind of a loose grouping which could be interpreted in many different ways

I mean are you talking about the people who have been playing forever or are you talking about some people who started here as well because I don't think it should be "FR Veterans Team" the Feature Team is kind of dominated by them (For a GOOD reason too, not arguing abou that) so I think this team should have some people who started on here.

Idk just people who make good tracks. I agree it would be hard to decide who. I just fear that the section will be flooded with crap tracks so any way to prevent that would be good. I guess it really doesn't matter that much because personally, I would hope to see a large amount of tracks in this section. In my mind this would be where people spend a lot of their time on FRHD.
On a separate but similar note, this section should be shuffled. Which such a large influx of tracks, the ones at the back of the list would get no attention unless it is shuffled.

Idea sounds great Eric, but the only flaw is that at least a quarter of OA aren't experienced enough for the position. Let's be honest here, a large amount of OA's still make below average tracks. However, the idea of a 'team' doesn't sound bad, so long as u can't put ur own tracks in there. Or, alternatively the Official Recommended Mods pick a bunch of tracks that the entire OA community then votes on, but again u can't vote for ur own track
And what happens if a track gets on there that is then featured? Would it stay on both or be moved to the featured page?

Taking a day to think this through a bit more, what are thoughts on the following for "officially recommended":

    - section is a collection of tracks that have been rated by official authors
    - (total thumbs up - total thumbs down) by all official authors, only tracks with a positive total are shown and sorted from most likes with some randomization

it should be a limited number of tracks if this is implemented, otherwise a ton of older tracks will pop up in this section

Ehhhhhh, I think giving the officials the power to recommend or something like de-recommend would be better, increasing the track quality in this section

I would say every featured track should be in this section.
Who cares if they are old. Good tracks are good tracks.
It would probably be best if tracks were easily removed and somewhat easily added. Voting would take wayyyyy too much effort with so many tracks. There should be a few officials who can remove them, and it publicly shows who did it and why (or something).

I'm sure there will be even more controversy in this section than the featured section. People asking for their tracks to be added, complaining about bad tracks .
We should have some baseline rules like track length, character count, etc.

I like this idea. Once tracks are in this section, official authors could find them and easily vote down the bad ones. The only problem would be to figure out how many officials are actively doing this.

Maybe for the Officially recommended section, we should make a leaderboard, top voted tracks made a year ago or longer, and a recent track Leaderboard. 10 tracks for each leaderboard, all Official Authors can vote on a track and 10 Elite Authors (if it is given out) determine wheteher the track is good enough for this.
I know that iTzChuckNorris said 'who cares if they are old', but I believe we should give new upcoming authors a chance, and show reconginition to old and talented authors, but not make one seem 'better' than the other....

Honestly, that would never work out. Too much voting, too much nonsense. Also I think the newest tracks get enough recognition as is through trending. There should just be categories like Top voted, Newest, Largest, Longest (now that the times are included), and shuffle.

To be honest I think this is pointless. Authors have plenty of opportunities here to showcase great tracks with the featured and trending sections. Why do we need ANOTHER grouping for slightly lesser quality tracks?

I'm for a recommended track grouping that sorts through previously played tracks and recommends similar ones that the user might also want to play. Like YouTube's recommended video section.

Your idea comes across as a watered down featured section.

because it can be more fun if you just want to play a bunch of good tracks that you have never seen without having to search for them
On that note, there should also be some sort of indication that a track has been played on the thumbnails. For all tracks lol.
I would even argue that people should be able to select their thumbnails... but I guess it's intentionally automatic.

    exactly, good description
