You
really have no room to talk.
Anyways, I thought I should offer my opinion of this thread.
Yes, the feature team is a little biased. However, there really aren't many others who are better suited for the job. I know I said "the feature team is horrible" and I meant that to an extent. There is really no easy way to fix the problem though (unless we double or triple the size of the feature team, which is probably a bad idea). Featured tracks are completely based on opinion and not rating. If this team isn't featuring tracks, some other team will be, and as a result, some people will probably disagree with some of their decisions. Now, I don't feel like searching around the database for tracks that I feel should be featured (that is not my job), but I will make a quick point using the tracks I know. (mine)
If tracks like this are featured:
blue-trashcan
wild-one-express
contest-entry
wooden-bucket
caesium
plasticorp
alice
(yes mostly Ness, but that's his style. I don't have anything against these tracks... other than how f****** impossible they are)
Then I strongly believe that
Snowy Slopes 10 should be featured. I'm not saying that those tracks don't deserve to be featured, but if they are, then the feature mods have overlooked a few 'feature worthy' tracks. Looking at them, I can tell that they took an immense amount of time to create and I think the authors should receive some recognition for their work. However, I also think some of the feature mods fail to realize just how difficult a track like SS10 is to make. I mean, I probably spent more time on it than almost any other track I've made. Again, I'm sure there are others.
If tracks like this are featured:
seventh-sea
ithaka
country-cycling
cliffside-trail
crysis
backyard
catch-ya-plane
asteroid-escape
Then why isn't
Twisting Nether featured? Maybe I'm just missing something, but I don't see how they are any better. Different? Yes, but quality wise, I'm not seeing it.
Finally, if
mountain-ride and
cityscape are featured, then how is
cityscape-2 not? The only reason I'm giving these examples is to show how the feature team is either biased, or just missing some tracks (in my opinion).
As another example, tracks like
Twisting Nether 2 should
not be featured. Yes I spent a very,
very long time on it, but the mountain doesn't even look like a mountain and the water is horrible. With some slight changes, I think it could be a feature worthy track, but that's besides the point.
My point is: if it is clear that an author has spent an exceptional amount of time on a track, whether it is the track, artwork, or whatever, and the final product is clean, working, playable, and looks good, then it deserves a feature. Difficulty to
beat the track should have NOTHING to do with it being feature worthy. In fact, Snowy Slopes 10 was incredibly difficult to make easy to play. No, this is not just a plea to feature my Snowy Slopes 10 and Twisting Nether tracks. To be honest I care very little about features, and I'm probably a little biased myself. It wouldn't benefit me and the whole point of featuring is to get more people to play tracks that deserve it. Not to get cocky, but I really don't need that. It would be nice to be shown recognition for my work, but in reality, getting a featured track only means that a few people approve of it, and I honestly don't care about their opinions of me. The only problem is that their opinions affect the home page of FRHD.
