      Hey all,

to my opinion, woodmas is a player that should be banned from this game. Not only does he use offensive language to other players (especially when it comes to gender - homosexual matters). In this track (http://www.freeriderhd.com/t/68621-pebbles) he even openly uses a nazi-symbol in a track.

Where I live, in Belgium, spreading symbols like that are strongly forbidden by law! (not that I'm thàt law-abiding - however there are things that cannot be tolerated, okay!)

Anyone got an opinion about this matter?

      Cheers

a swastika is actually a symbol for well-being. He probably meant it as a nazi symbol though...

Yeah I know where the symbol comes from.
Pretty sure he meant it as a nazi symbol. He's really that dumb. Aren't you Woodmas

I'm pretty sure we're talking in different contexts DavidDuncan .
Most Americans believe that words and actions are quite distinct and that words should not be criminalised, but actions can. This is the essence of the First Amendment. In this scenario, it is usually argued that the answer to bad speech is good speech and in time the latter will prevail.

(This approach comes from the history of the USA which was founded by religious immigrants fleeing Europe where they were persecuted for expressing and practicising their particular religious views. Modern America has no experience of religious wars or ethnic cleansing or extermination camps. The elimination of the American indian does not influence current American thinking. The incarceration of Japanese-Americans during the Second World War was not the result of bad actions or even of bad speech – but the paranoia of wartime.)

In contrast, most Europeans believe that words and actions are related, that the first can lead to the second and that, in cases of particularly bad speech one should not wait until it actually results in bad actions. Therefore it is argued that certain forms of bad speech should be criminalised before it leads to bad actions. This is the essence of our incitement laws and, in some European countries, the criminalisation of Holocaust denial. In this scenario, the answer to the worst of bad speech is to prosecute it – although usually such prosecutions have to be brought by a public prosectors who makes a judgement as to whether on balance it is in the public interest and such prosecutions have to be heard by a jury who are expected to ensure that such trials are not used to constrain free speech.

You're using a swastica. Woodmas is using an SS nazi symbol. There's a small difference in symbol, but a big difference in meaning...

It is a nazi symbol. A swastica turns the other way around...

Dont speak about america disillusioned belgian socialist. And also, the symbol is a tool for dark humor. Doing something edgy like that is meant to offend some and make some giggle, not to promote nazism.

E; it really annoys me when foreigners act as if they are superior to americans and possess higher knowledge. But it still remains laughable, because it is indeed quite the opposite.

Well, all nations are different and better in their own ways, and even regions, for example, some places in Murca are awesome and are totally better than eastern Canada for example. Some places in Murca suck and eastern Canada might even be considered better than them. Western Canada is of course much better than most of Murca, but there are still some cool places down there that could be considered equal. BC of course is a different matter entirely. it is better than anywhere else. (this might contain a tiny bit of bias.) Char Velksy don't you agree with me? BC is the best ;)

Disillusioned AND socialist. Both of these don't apply on me pssst . You seem to know it all, but you don't know anything about me.
And where do I act AS IF I'm superior to Americans (if AN American even exists - which you seem to presume ^^ Think again, I'd say)? There's no such thing in my post.

Really helpfull this post of yours... I guess you had to dig deep.

Thanks JulianBlack for getting my point. And I didn't even mean that one is better than an other. I just meant there's a different approach in how people/different cultures react to what happens around them.

I will pardon you, because it is likely English is not your first language. Acting as if you have more knowledge about the USA than Americans of the United States, or Americans for short, implys that you are superior because you take the stance that us Americans are clueless or ignorant and understand our own government/laws less than you. Which is very untrue.

And socialist was a joke, disillusioned was not.

Waw thanks for pardoning me, I could nearly sleep last night (lol).

I didn't claim to understand US laws better than Americans. I was just pointing out the difference between Europe and USA in this matter. If you still feel offended in some way, please understand that feeling originates somewhere between your ears.
