Caitlyn Jenner formerly Bruce Jenner has been stirring quite the controversy in my Facebook feed. I do live in the "bible belt" so many are negative views, albeit some positive. I really couldn't care less about what she wants to do with her life. We live in a secular nation, formed by secular founding fathers, and she's living her own secular life. The only thing that I really think is odd is that he wanted to be a woman at this age, so why wouldn't he have changed years ago if he always knew he was a female? Anyway, live and let live is all I gotta say, I try my best not to judge other people's lives because I know mine isn't perfect either. She also set a Twitter record for getting a million followers in 4 hours.

I'm certainly not against it but I do find transgenderism very strange honestly, only because they can't exactly make you completely change into the opposite sex...you still keep a lot of your old traits, and for this reason it freaks me out. Caitlyn does not look female at all to me, rather like the dude from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. But let her do her thing, if she's happy good for her.

I don't know why people care about celebrities, I don't know these people so why should I care about their life choices?

Yeah by now I kind of feel like she is selling out on this, I mean think how much money she is making off this. Also, there are so many other important things to be thinking of right now.

That is one of the big things that is wrong about America. We focus on celebrities or sports, but people in poorer areas of the world are suffering from hunger or thirst

It's a big inspiration for the lgbt community and I'm happy about that. I also shows how much the world's culture has changed, how we are embracing her decision. Of course there are many who don't.

innocent children in Africa are dying from mosquitoes and lack of water, while in America we're spending thousands of dollars to change gender. wtf

surprisingly that is a real thing, not an Internet definition!
also if someone chooses to spend their own money on something that severely affects them they should be free to do so, no? i wouldn't call it a waste to go forward w/ something that helps to deal with a major issue in your life like gender dysphoria - you wouldn't ask someone going to therapy to donate the money they spent there to charity instead, would you?

Changing gender isn't because they JUST want to change gender. There are always reasons behind it. Also stop judging her :/ if it was you and someone else was saying all of that... you would hate it too! She wanted a change and I think we need to respect that change. It's her life not yours ;)

Honestly, I dislike the internet. There was a time when we understood life was difficult, you wouldn't get everything you wanted and you might not end up happy. This resulted in some people who were strong and capable.
In the last few years, the internet has turned that inside out. Now people act entitled and weak, and believe you can change your gender (in the future, probably yes, but not yet in my opinion).
You can't get everything you want, no matter how much you want it and how many people believe you can. Equality can only go so far before you're just reaching for clouds and that's what I believe the situation is for gender reassignment.

(I have no issue with people who feel like they're the wrong gender, I'm just not going to pretend that they can change it yet. The world is not perfect, we aren't frogs or fish.)

well in the meantime wanna just treat people who want to change their gender as they would like despite gender reassignment being imperfect? that seems like a nice thing to do seeing as they arent affecting your life in any way =)

As I implied in my post that you quoted, I think the world needs more honesty and less kindness. No, I won't lie to someone to make them happy, you can't get everything you want and in my opinion, it just isn't possible to change your gender yet.
