Campaigns are the issue!

    I just realized the reason as to why "noobs" keep downrating, and not appreciating tracks that aren't basically a hold-up (itz chucknorris' tracks are good examples of this).
    The reason why this is so, is because one of the first things they do, is to go to campaigns, and attempt to beat these.
    Most campaign tracks are unfortunatly "hold-ups", and this is sorta setting the standards of what should be required to beat a track.
    Just like me, I bet most people who do not care about spending 10minutes on a track for the noobs' satisfaction, has let themselves become annoyed by repeated comments like "bad ride" "too hard" "too much detail" and become downrated asap, when in fact the tracks are pretty simple for us who havent been imprented with "hold-ups".

    IMO the solution to this problem is not to get rid of trending or any other "smart" solutions, but consider the reason as to why these shitty tracks are there, and why people appreciate them more, is because the campaign tracks are setting the standards.
    If Char & Eric would bring up the difficulty for the next campaigns (and perhaps replace some of already existing campaign tracks), and start including "normal" or "real" tracks, and quit this hold-up nonsense. I think we'd get a quick turn in this naughty trend.

    Expect errors, I'm not really awake atm.

    The point of the campaigns were to gradually teach/challenge the players. I'm sure the new campaigns that Velksy is rumored to be working on will meet your expectations. For instance, with the Sci-Fi Campaign, I'm sure Max's Distant Planet will get in. Futhermore, I'm positive the Nature Campaigns will have more difficult, detailed tracks, since many forest tracks have a bumpy ride.

    so gradually means 8 campaigns of hold-ups, then 2 campaigns that will be more difficult? by what you believe is to happen atleast?
    atm, the only difference from track nr1 in campaign 1, and track nr10 in campaign 8, is a difference in length, and the amount of times you have to press Z.

    I think campaigns were really cool untill the 3rd campaign dropped. After that it became just packages of tracks with a theme sticked to them that didn't have any difficulty progression. track 1-20 is pretty nicely thought out with each track being harder than the previous but after that the campaigns just stop teaching the player to get better, ruining the experience for me

    i agree, the introduction tracks are great to have, but the rest is useless.
    im thinking it might have to do something with eric and char's own abilities at riding tracks, that made the campaigns to become like this, unfortunatly. without being a fairly experienced rider, you won't really be able to decide the difficulty of tracks you're not able to complete yourself. afterall theyre developers, and never really shared the same interest in the game as the players.

    Omg, yes! It takes me 1-3 tries to beat a campaign track... There should be harder tracks *cought* add a hard trials *cough*
    e; I mean those trials that people like pnguy or Acid_Bubble actually have troubles with! I LOVE Trials...

    I personally hate ghosting trials. Give me a bumpy detailed track and I'm great, but I hate trials :p

    Yea, but the thing is, bumpy tracks can have good time and are mainly based on luck... Trials are always race for the best time and most trials have a big difference in times... So it's is mainly skill and some luck...

    Both are entirely based on luck because of the checkpoint system, ya know.

    idk when the pssst campaign will come out, that'd set the userbase straight

    the trials campaign should always be available after beating the 1st campaign

    actually some of forlorn, gongo, max and elly tracks are in campaigns and i dont believe they are hold ups. Also, Traverse has bumps in some places

    They are, with the exception of forlorn.
    If she's even in there, but I cant remember seeing any of her tracks in there...

    I actually made all my campaign tracks to fit the difficulty of the other tracks so yeah, my campaign tracks aren't hard at all

    Forlorn's is in the Fantasy Campaign i believe, track number 7,8,9 or 10. Hers is some dragon one

    It's sad to say, but the developers' perception of track rideability has made the "standard" of what noobs expect a track to look like today.
    Even if a hold-up is ever so repetetive... and one would expect people to get tired of holding up, and pressing z every once in awhile, with no particular features that makes it different from the previous hold-up they played... we have to face the fact that the featured tracks are there, yet people seem to prefer trending, hot, and top rated...
    I do think however, that featured tracks should somehow be more... featured, than the rest of the categories. Because atm it's sidelined with hot, trending, biggest aso, and that doesn't make much sense. Should a track that someone worked on for 5 months, be equal to an auto on hot, that lasts for 10seconds, and asks for likes for the author to continue it? Yet the auto has 500 more ratings, and 50k more plays.
    IMO, there could be a slideshow of some kind, that shows featured tracks on the frontpage... similar to the one on CanvasRider. Most attention went to the featured tracks there. And the site had more traffic than TrackMill, which has a similar system to FRHD.

    Note; this is a side-suggestion to the idea of changing up the campaign difficulty.

    Hey Stig, thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns over the campaigns. If you have any more ideas and/or track suggestions please pm me and I'll see what we can do to make sure the next campaigns meet everyone's expectations :D

    Release the nature campaign, there has to be over enough tracks for that already.
