America is NOT the greatest country in the world, anymore. [nsfw: language]

Jeff Daniels give a great speech on "The Newsroom". We [US] are low in many categories yet many people still consider America the greatest country in the world. Many other countries are passing more laws to better benefit their citizens and loosen their restrictions, and the US is falling behind, except our military and nuclear defense is top notch. Just trying to provoke some thought and discussion, even if you live in a different country feel free to comment on the video. This was also made a few years ago, albeit still relevant.

 

I don't think too many people are oblivious to the fact that America isn't great anymore, people are completely ignorant though to how we got to this ruined and depraved point. And Like he said in the video, James Madison was a genius, and also Alexander Hamilton (a genius with money), the constitution is just history now though.

and Joel, I think it is possible for us to get back, it will just take a lot of time and effort, which our government doesn't exactly like doing.

 

And half of the problem lies in society, we're raising generations to not think for themselves, who have no moral standard and self respect, which is why corrupt people are put in office. They represent the corrupt society.

well discuss of course, it is a common idea to think of america as the greatest country of all yet many are too ignorant to really take a look 1 in 7 believe the government did 9/11 as more years go by America becomes lower on the mathematics statics for worldwide along with having Bush as a leader somewhere along the lines America became the greatest place for the wealthy in the world the worst place for the victims of poverty and eventually the middle class was well not a good place. Also as mentioned we have WAY TOO MANY LIBERALS!

There's some songs and poems and arts that are satires of America, which point out the hypocrasy and shifted views and all the problems too

 

I'm pretty grateful for the freedoms we do have. The country isn't perfect, no country is. We have a lot of work to do to ensure a higher quality of life and equal rights for everyone. But we're doing a pretty fair job in comparison to a lot of other places. For a country that's been around for only ~250 years, we're on a roll.

It blows my mind how little people appreciate what we do have. Sure, some things suck, and we need to improve them, but don't let that blind you to what is good here.

 

It's still first world though, be grateful for that

oh don't get me wrong, i'm extremely thankful for our freedoms, which will more than likely persist until we die due to our military and nuclear defense being high. i'll always have gratitude and respect for a country that is as "peaceful" as ours. new legislation propositions such as cannabis and gay marriage show that we are on the right path towards independence.

We just need the constitution back to it's full strength and the dirtbags out of office and we'll be right as rain!

America has been ruined by non-European immigrants. For ***** sake, the only people who have ever accomplished anything genuinely amazing are the Europeans. America would be unknown, we would be devoid of thousands of scientific advances, civilization wouldn't exist in half the world if the Europeans hadn't started it in the first place, and we wouldn't have Peel p50s Not saying we should boot all the other races out, but it was rude of the immigrants to abandon the crappy countries they started to reap the benefits of Europe.
