Not necessarily the best authors, just the ones with the really detailed and rough tracks. I personally like smooth tracks more. You're right though, people dislike what they can't do.

I personally think the best authors are the ones with the tracks that are the most fun to play. I think you need some detail. But, you can have a track like iTzChuckNorris's 2012, and it doesn't have much detail. However, it is super fun too play. And it doesn't have all those little bumps you need to spend 10 minutes driving over. It's a matter of opinion which genre of tracks you like. Some like really detailed tracks. Some like smooth tracks. Some like autos (not me). However, I wouldn't say that the really detailed tracks are "the best".
