Okay everyone so I had what I thought was an interesting idea to make the player points a more accurate ranking when there are actual leader boards. My thought is, what about making it to where you also earn points for finishing in the top 10 on a certain track? That way people like me who have only finished 2-300 tracks but have taken the time to get a decent time on almost all of them can still be rewarded? Since finishing a track is worth 2 points I was thinking the points could go something like this.

      1st place time) 8 points
      2nd place time) 6 points
      3rd place time) 5 points
      4th place time) 4 points
      5th place time) 3 points
      6th place time) 2 points
      7th-10th) 1 Point

OR another option is to increase the amount of points earned for finishing a track to say 5 points and then have (in my opinion) an even better scoring for top 10 system like >

      1st) 15 points
      2nd) 12 points
      3rd) 10 points
      4th) 8 points
      5th) 7 points
      6th) 6 points
      7th) 5 points
      8th) 4 points
      9th) 3 points
      10th) 2 points

Now I know one thing you may be thinking is well what about those tracks with less plays that you can just finish and spam points? Well in theory this would make people play all those less played tracks (like mine) where you could easily get a top ten time if you tried for a few minutes. And then you might go to that author and see if he has any other good tracks to try and get a good time. Thus giving up and coming or less known track creators a better chance at becoming recognized if they are making cool tracks. Either way I think it would be nice to have a points reward for finishing with a top 10 time. Maybe you could add an exception to where the track has to have say at least 30 plays before points are rewarded to the top 10. Anyway, I hope to hear back what everyone thinks! Thanks for reading this.

Yea I dont mind changing the actual values.. I just really hope we can get something going because I think it would paint a way more accurate picture of who is good and who isnt come leader board time

The problem is: what will happen if you a player get dropped from the leaderboards? Also, if you complete a track early when posted (where no one was able to complete it, because it was just posted) you could get points easily.

      1. PROBLEM,YES!
2.That's kind fair, cause then the player who sees the newest track gets a fair advantage.

What if, instead of "points", we have a "reputation" score?
What I mean is, have ones "reputation" score constantly be changing as he/she beats people, and people beat him/her?

Here is a long (and probably rather confusing) example:

One day Sono is happily playing FRHD, and plays 3 different tracks.

On the first track, Sono ranks number 5 on the leaderboard, receiving 7 reputation points (using Speedy's second mentioned idea of points-per-rank)
On the second, Sono ranks 7th, and receives 5 reputation points.
On the third, Sono kicks some butt and gets 1st place, receiving 15 more reputation points.

At the moment, Sono has a total of 27 reputation points. Sono then leaves his computer to go make a sandwich.

While he is munchin on a tripple-decker P&J, Speedy, Asierro, and Skijumping decide to be jerks and pass Sono's time on the third track, knocking him down to 4th place.
      (Here comes the interesting bit..)
Now that Sono holds the 4th place score, his score for that track is now 8 points (instead of 15), resulting in his overall reputation points to be 20 points.

This change in score could result in Sono's World Leaderboard ranking (based on reputation points) to go down.

      Notable facts:
      - 3 7th place finishes is equal to one first place finish.
      - Just finishing 15 tracks total is equal to one first place finish.
      - That sandwich was really tasty.
The only concerns I am having with this idea is the websites servers being able to keep up with hundreds of scores being changed every second.. However, notifications for people beating your time don't seem to be a problem, so this may not cause issues.

Then you could get a notification saying you have been bumped off of (__) track go earn your rank back!! Then bam friendly competition! Until you do (if you do) then you lose any points you had earned. Obviously it would have to be set up to where you would lose your points if you lost your position. So it would be possible to lose points over time if you aren't playing.. But that is even more reason to implement it I think. Why not let the active players be able to bump some of the older ones off easier? Also another good reason (in my opinion) to have it because it would create a desire to try new authors and tracks with less plays and give less know authors who are putting out effort a chance to prove themselves easier. You would also need to take the time to set a reasonably good time or else your time will more then likely just be knocked off. So that is why I REALLY hope we can do something like this :)

Exactly! I like the way you put this.. Also I do like you point about about 3 7th = 1st and also with that points system (with the 5 points for finishing) The 15 points would be "bonus" points so you would earn 20 points total So actually by just finishing 4 tracks you would earn the points of a win. Sooo maybe say 3 points for finishing a track? So that way if you got 10th and earned the two points you would earn a total of 5 "reputation points" that would be prone to change once someone passed you. The only points that would lock in is the 3 points for finishing. I just think it is an awesome idea to get a much more accurate and competitive leaderboard> Also it should give new/less known authors a better chance to become known :) Just trying to better the community. Thanks for your opinion everyone :D

How about we use the ranking system used in F1?

      1st) 25 points
      2nd) 18 points
      3rd) 15 points
      4th) 12 points
      5th) 10 points

      7th) 6 points
      8th) 4 points
      9th) 2 points
      10th) 1 points
