WHAT DO WE WANT FROM THIS GAME? WHAT CAN THIS GAME BE? THIS GAME CAN BE INCREDIBLE. THIS GAME CAN BE THE (pronouncing "the" with a little bit of stress, the letter e is longer) NUMBER ONE BEST SANDBOX CREATIVE STYLE GAME EVER.

Seriously, though. This game could be so much better. I don't know much about coding and stuff, I don't know how hard it is, but from a player's perspective, there's so much to be done.

When it comes to regular trackmaking
      1. Ability to move your character in the Track Editor.
This would be so good, we wouldn't have to play our tracks to the point we're currently making every time we start working on them again. It would also help with a bunch of other stuff like testing different sections in your track. It would just make everything faster and easier.

      2. More advanced scenery tools. Meaning the ability to do a full scenery background (in caves for example, where there's dark) without having to use hours and hours of stacking that 2 millimeter line on top of another. It could be just a wider scenery line option. I don't know. Do something. Please.

      3. The ability to copy already done segments in your track. Meaning that you could select a tree you've just drawn for example (square select tool, which would select everything inside that square), then copy it and move the copied version around. That way we could do forests, cities, and other with less effort. You could also move your already done drawings with this tool, which would also help a lot. (If you didn't quite get this one, think about paint.exe and its select/copy system)

      4. Goddamn online WIP database. How hard can it be? It's just a pile of text that would be saved on the online drive in which the complete tracks are also saved, only it would be personal. It would make it so, so much easier to take up a wip and start working on it, without having to save your track codes to other online databases like Google Drive (which doesn't work if your trackcode is too long).

      Some cool features
      1. Doors, and keys. I've mentioned this earlier. Basically doors that would have counterparts that would open said doors. It would add a mechanic that allows much more creative trackmaking.

      2. Moving objects. This would be kinda cool. Like you could add an animation to a selected segment. You could do lifts, enemies (drawing something with a bomb on its hand moving right and left in a position, giving the track a bit of additional challenge), moving vehicles like cars or planes even and much more. The moving segments could also have counterparts, for example in a lift you could create a button that would activate the lift, and that way be able to move along. Actually you could create the doors with these. And the animation process wouldn't be that complicated, you could select how far the object moves, how fast it moves, and if you want it to keep moving, or stop at its destination. This would be so cool.

      3. Things that would empower the rider somehow. Some magical pills that would make the rider faster, slower (like not just in air but slower for good), or something else. And there could be a certain time how long these effects last, or counterparts which would turn them off.

      4. Teleports. There have been a lot of discussion about these. And these would in fact be kinda cool. Think about a track where you start in a room with ten teleports, each of these would take you to a different room, which would have a teleport back to the starting position. How cool would that be? Pretty cool.

^All of these four would give the track makers so much more freedom to be creative in terms of the mechanic of the track. They would also make playing tracks less repetitive and boring. You could even create puzzle tracks, where the player has to think what door to open, what lift to activate, and what route to take in order to get that sweet sweet little star.

THANKS! This has been elephant_breeder, the breeder of elephants. I might edit some stuff in this post later. Oh and the reason I posted this on a separate thread instead of Char's thread is because I didn't want it to get lost in the sea of comments.

Move tool is already in the works although the copy tool is a little bit iffy. It would mess with the detail aspect of the game and I don't want it to be in the game. They are also working on online saves, as char noted in previous threads. I mentioned a fill bucket tool, but I don't think it will be implemented anytime soon, or even at all. Also with doors/keys and teleports may make the game to complex.

Doors and keys and teleports would ruin the game, so I would not enjoy that

Doors + keys is the best thing that could happen to this game, I would love the **** out of that. I would also love teleporters, but they would not be as awesome as doors + keys for me. Generally more power-ups as long as they are well thought out would be really really sweet, because every single power-up the devs add will give authors the opertunity to make 100s of new types of obstacles. Anti-gravity would be sweet for example

I thought about this, came to the conclusion that those little bit more complex tools could be kinda "additional" features in the track editor (assuming you mean that making tracks would become too complex instead of playing them). Meaning that when you first start making your very first track, you're given the basic tools, you're told what they do, and so on. A little bit later the game could introduce that "hey, there's also these cool features you probably haven't tried try them out like this". It's the same when you're writing your first forum post, you don't need to know all the spoiler and code stuff, you just need to know how to write, they come a little later, when you see them used in other people's posts.

And Max007x completely agree, they would give the tracks so much more, now it's just riding and riding and riding, and people don't essentially even feel that they want to complete the track, because they won't get to the leaderboards. This game shouldn't be about those leaderboards, it should be about wanting to complete the track because it's fun and challenging! Not just jumps, and jumps, and more jumps...

E; tried to write spoiler in []'s and it actually made a spoiler... dumb me

How? Care to explain a little?

It would be weird. It would be less about racing and it could possibly make the game very confusing. It would be less of a biking game and more of a maze game and I just don't like the idea. Maybe I'm wrong, there is no way of knowing unless it is put into the game.

Only one in the bottom four I'm feeling tbh. The top part I completely agree with.

You can use the checkpoint for that, then just delete it when you go to publish the track.
I'd rather not see this, but that's just my opinion.
As someone else said, this is already being worked on. Also, paint.exe might not be the best example since a lot of people here won't understand it. (I don't, for example, what's so unique about paint.exe's select/copy system?)
      This is a good idea.
I'm not sure about this one, I think it could be good but it depends on how the devs would work it into the game.
I remember something similar to this being brought up, I'd like it but only if it was more simple than your suggestion.
      Eh, no.
My only issue with this is when I teleport in a game, it takes me a second to understand my surroundings and where I'm going. This could be annoyingly deadly in a track, if that obstacle was solved (perhaps temporary slow motion upon exiting the teleporter) then this is a good idea.

1 - I agree, if and only if there is a way that prevents this from people making impossible to win tracks!
2 - A custom length of both physics and scenery lines, with the ability to choose the colour of your line! At least changing the shades of grey to your liking, dark or light grey scenery, if not full colours like fr2 had! :D
3 - You stole my idea, I think! The reason I think so, is simply because the post containing my idea was posted a looong time before yours, that's why! It's a really important idea though, Char should put it on top of the to-do list!
4 - Char said that infinite track size and infinite ghost size will come, in a convo that I had with him! ( Oooooops I revealed too much, I ruined the surprise! :( ) Which possibly means that saving your wips might be coming very soon!
      Some cool features
1 - Doors and keys? What's next, chairs and tables?
2 - Animations would be cool! But the code to write for them is quite complicated! I don't think that even I'd be able to write good animation code! Basically, you have to wait like a few years until this is even added to the to-do list!
3 - Powerups to slow down/speed up the whole track are useless! What's better though, is customisable powerups!
      4 - Portals? What's next, tron cycles?

this would lead to a lot of tracks that would not just be named impossible but actually are. like u start in box and the star is out side of the box, then you move the player and get the star but when u upload it no one can pass like other ideas like copy but this ones just bad.

Let me answer some of the questions

To start, we all want this game to be the best it can be. The coding isn't the issue. Its more that we are sensitive as to not change the "game play" too much. Who knows tho, all of this is a possibility.

Yeah, the main concern with this , is that people would create this massive tracks (that would take forever to load etc) , and just re-upload the same track with different placements. (This is a cool idea in itself, but lends itself to scaling issues)
Yeah, we may have a fill tool at some point, and foreground tool
Hestiant to do this as it would lead very large tracks with the same stuff copied and pasted over and over. The issue isn't how you would use it, its how other kids will use it.
      Its coming.

Not off the table yet. We are thinking about it
Yeah, this has always a desired feature. I am just not sure on the technicalities of it. I think if we did something like this, we may just create a new game entirely.
Might make the game too complex. The biggest issue with these type of things is that it takes control away from the track author. Certain tracks are designed to flow a certain way, and jumps need to be hit exactly a certain way. This causes issues in this respect
      Yeah, this has been discussed
Thanks for the feedback / ideas
