This has been suggested a lot of... scratch that. It has been begged for a lot of times, but Char and Eric seem to not notice the many multi-page threads about it. You need to get rid of "trending". I know you are working on a new editor, and it looks awesome, but the game isn't being ruined by not having a new editor. It's being ruined by the hundreds of terrible under 30 second tracks (most of them under 5 seconds) that are getting lots of likes because the author says "please like if you want me to continue" or "like if you didn't beat it on your first try", or "I will make better tracks if you like". I can't say that I am not guilty of doing that. Back in my nooby days on CR a long time ago, I would say things like "please like. I hope it gets to at least 20", and I wasn't the only one. But there is one big difference between then and now: It didn't work for me. Some suckers did like those tracks because of the message, but they didn't deserve more than 5 likes, and they didn't get more than 5 likes. But now with the trending section, if those tracks get just a few likes, they will show up on trending, and people will see them when they first go on to the webpage. And if the first things you see are bad 5 second tracks, the first tracks you'll play are bad 5 second tracks, and all the people who like tracks just because the author tells them to will like it, and a track not deserving of any likes will get hundreds, while good tracks with mature authors who don't beg for likes won't get very many likes. Please get rid of trending. Make featured or newest be the first ones to show up, and shuffle them, so it's not the same tracks every single time. If you guys have any hope of Free Rider HD being anywhere near as good as Canvas Rider, getting rid of trending is the first step.
We are not ignoring this. We are well aware of the issue, and are going to address it. We are going to figure out a way to get equal exposure to tracks. I think what we are seeing right now is a "phase" of tracks. They won't be on there forever. Let me quote myself. This is not "killing" the game. The same amount of good tracks are still being uploaded, it just seems that they are not being exposed to the front page. Give us some time to sort it out.
I still think that it would be best to have it shuffle the tracks. Sorry I went on a rant there. I had just played what seemed like hours of hold ups and was in a hunger, sickness, and fatigue induced frenzy! Never do all your homework on a Saturday or that might happen to you.
everyone needs to stop complaining about this. it annoys me too, but there are better things to update in the game instead of trying to filter out certain people's tracks. who cares if a track is noobish and gets 1000+ likes, how does it affect you in any way? let's just accept the fact that the trending page isn't perfect, and let char and eric focus on more important things.
I actually think that fixing the trending list is one of the most important things for the site right now. I know that it doesn't effect me that much directly, but there are people who put a ton of effort into great tracks, but nobody plays those great tracks because they aren't on trending because they are "too hard". Basically, it's making it so the amount of likes and subscribers a profile has has nothing to do with the quality of the author.
I tend to forget about the trending list because it's so useless for finding good tracks, I'd rather the FRHD homepage show me a list of the biggest tracks in character size uploaded in the last week or month.
The featured tracks list is glacially slow, if new tracks are even being added to it. It's better where it is now, the homepage should show a list of tracks that changes continually in some way so the list stays fresh.
I guess trending could stay, but the homepage should shuffle the tracks, like CR's homepage did. That would make it so it's not the same tracks every time.
Here's how I think the layout should go, hope you can understand my bad example As you can see, Trending/Featured/Hot/etc get the same amount of recognition
Look, as you might have already noticed, Kano Games has marketed this game to the wrong audience. It'd take around at least a month for them to fix this! But even then, the hardcore fanbase is really small. And as we all know, Kano Games wants to make $$$$$$. More players = more $$$$$$ So they won't fix this.
Can't we all just let Char and Eric finish the editor? Let them do 1 thing at a time. It's like when you are just about to finish doing a Job and then your parents say that you have to do something else as soon as you finish. Then it happens again, and again, and again. It's like a loop but just srsly let them finish the editor before this. This is nothing compared to how the editor is. No offence Char and Eric...
Char I like the Netflix-style layout. I also think a brief description should be added somewhere convenient for the featured section, describing the featuring process and naming the current feature mods-- hopefully, this would attract new aspiring artists to join the forums and make great tracks. Descriptions could also benefit the other sections.
