once a week, we'll have a small ghosting contest based around a theme. there will also be a trackmaking contest you can find here: track jam

this week's theme: jellyfish jam (shrimpers gate.)

another popular genre of track: underwater tracks! so many interesting rides and track layouts have came from this genre, so here's an opportunity to enjoy those rides.

so the rules of the ghost jam are simple:

• make your ghost before 11:00pm central time, saturday september 21th
• no TAS ghosts
• post a link in this thread!

double points! any new best time on the ten eleven tracks will get FRHD Teams points, 20 points per track (220 points in total).

if two or more ghosters get a better time than the current best time, only the top time will win 20 points, ties will split points, and the rest get 5 points each.

Need to fully recover my mental health, as is the case these last few months for me, and ghosting is not doing me any favors here. Judging by how last week turned out ghosting-wise in this event, I'd rather completely prioritize taking care of myself for now. Also, R.I.P. in advance to one of my only (mostly) bike featured ghosts.

Yeah, 2nd and 3rd places on track jams at least get something out of them, in a way where ghost jams do not. Combine this with my current mental wellbeing, and you get someone who would rather not even put a dent in a certain ghoster's complete and utter dominance as of recently.

 

I’m open to hear any suggestions on what could be done differently. I have 200 possible points for 10 tracks, how could I spread those out?

 

What first comes to my mind is that it depends on how many people have surpassed the initial time goals for each track (with a cap of perhaps 3 players instead of the current 1). If only one player surpassed said time/s, points gained would still work as they currently do, but with 2 or 3 new best times (with any more, only the top 3 would earn points), points would be split accordingly (something along the lines of, say, 7-3 and 5-3-2).

Or in other words, what I'm hoping for is to see some more weight/an incentive on beating the initial best times, and to try and balance out the score advantage 1st place would get relatively to track jams in some way.

I like this idea. gonna keep the 20 points for the winner the same, but will include points for anyone else that can beat the current best time.

so here's the new points system:

if two or more users get a better time than the current best time, only the top time will win 20 points (ties will split points), and the remaining users get 5 points each. if there's no current best time (on a new track, for example), I'll decide on a time to beat for that track.

Much appreciated change! Certainly makes ghosting while balancing out my health a viable option to me, in an event I would've otherwise been completely turned off from. The whole thing is supposed to bring back some activity, after all .

great idea! for the rule where nobody beats the current best time and you decide on a time to beat for that track, what will happen for a ghoster is already holding the record? for example if nobody beats uniior and cerasium's record on Abyss.
