Just wanted to share something i've been working on for a while. Some people may have noticed that I have recently basically exclusively been playing community classic tracks, and that is for a good reason. I am trying to see how many I can beat. This is similar to what piski did not long ago BUT I have a secondary goal. I am trying to get a leaderboard position on as many tracks as I can. I have just now hit a very important milestone. For all community classics tracks (including impossible + deleted), I now have a top 10 time on 50% of them. if you pick a random number between 1001 and 11106 and go to that track ID, there is a 50% chance I am on the leaderboard. Here is the current breakdown: #1: 1232 #2: 897 #3: 671 #4: 546 #5: 490 #6: 343 #7: 293 #8: 257 #9: 179 #10: 145 N/A: 5053 for reference, piski (who went through all track ID's and beat as many as he could) currently has ~3400 top 10 times on the community classics. I have currently only manually checked and played up to ID 3750 so far (2750 tracks). Depending on how committed I stay, I may post more updates on this project. We'll see! If you don't believe me, I have a txt file with a full breakdown of tracks IDs and what position I am on that ID. Maybe i'll post it
I have considered grinding to 100k points over the last year but I've had no time, maybe this is a nice way to get leaderboards and chip away points by going in chronological order.
this was my original intention when I started. although now it's turned into a bit of a ridiculous project
small update: I have cleared up to ID 4370. why is this special? because that's 1/3 of the way through the community classics! 10106/3 = 3369 (ID 4369 because they start at 1000) I have spoken to totoca and have given him and calc a list of a number of hacked times left to clear and once those are deleted I will regenerate a new list and check my progress. stay tuned
some more grinding later, I have gone and ghosted tracks between major gaps of no leaderboard spots and now I have at least one leaderboard position for every 5 comm classic tracks. if you pick ANY comm classic ID, I will have at least one lb spot within 5 tracks. (there is one exception, track ID 8966-8970 are all deleted which is a stretch of 5. this is the one gap of this size anywhere) currently 5513 lb positions rn
I have now cleared basically everything up to track ID 5000 (4000 tracks). totoca also was able to delete a handful of cheated and broken ghosts I had found which has helped a bit. here are my current stats: #1: 1389 #2: 1004 #3: 779 #4: 623 #5: 545 #6: 401 #7: 337 #8: 288 #9: 212 #10: 169 Total Top 3's: 3172 Total Top 5's: 4340 Total Top 10's: 5747 N/A: 4359 Top 10's on roughly 56.9% of comm classics

update: 1st pass: up to track ID 5750 2nd pass: up to track ID 1500 I have began work on a 2nd pass through the tracks IDs to get leaderboard positions on those that I have not so far (within reason). I have skipped some campaign tracks + grinded features + some tracks I still have not completed (movie mania for example) but just about everything else I am trying to get at least top 10 on (rather than just complete). For some context on how silly this is, of those first 500 track IDs there are only 74 I do not have a top 10 time on. Of these, 17 are impossible or deleted. And these early tracks ID's are a generally grinded way more than any other stretch so these records are a good bit harder to get. Even so, for these first 500 tracks, I have top 10's on 85% of them. I have also hit 6k leaderboard positions total (6035 to be precise). more updates soon
I have now hit what may be my most important milestone yet. as of today, I have cleared (basically) every track up to ID 6053. this is the 5053rd track which is exactly halfway through the community classics. I am now officially over 50%! I have also done a small amount of work on my 2nd pass and I am now up to ID 1600. all this grinding has given me these stats: #1: 1476 #2: 1083 #3: 806 #4: 667 #5: 569 #6: 442 #7: 359 #8: 321 #9: 221 #10: 181 N/A: 3981 I now have less than 4000 tracks without a leaderboard position, which also translates into being on the leaderboard for over 60.6% of tracks. I have some more ghosts for totoca to delete which well help more and more as I am on more and more leaderboards. Look forward to that! more updates soon
have been somewhat inactive while I work on other things in other games but I've grinded out a handful more tracks the past few days! I am now on 61.4% of leaderboards!
am also gonna pester totoca about removing some more hacked/broken ghosts I know about since that will help me a whole bunch
small update/factoid I found while grinding some early levels on my second pass: of the first 750 community classics I have top 10 times on 681 of them (over 90%) I have 1st on 150 of them (20%) if tracks in which a leaderboard position are impossible are not counted, my biggest uninterrupted stretch of positions is from 1381-1593 (212 tracks) (the impossible leaderboard ones are id 1464, 1473, and 1546, all of which I have the best possible time on (also if someone finds a way to improve any of these lmk)) pretty much everything in this range that I CAN potentially get leaderboards on are either campaign tracks, very long tracks I have not yet committed to beating, or very optimized brush/offroad levels (not my style) pretty cool tho
some more significant milestones recently! I have done my first pass up to ID 7000 (6k tracks) I have also done my second pass through the first 10% of levels (ID 2011) here are my current stats: #1: 1566 #2: 1174 #3: 872 #4: 717 #5: 602 #6: 469 #7: 384 #8: 352 #9: 247 #10: 179 N/A: 3544 Next goals: lb positions on 2/3 of all comm classics (currently like 65%) at least x+100 positions for every spot (for example, at least 100 10th's, 200 9th's, 300 8th's, etc. I only don't have this for 7th and 6th placements. want at least 400 7th's and 500 6th's)
Very impressive. many of these ghosts would have taken me ages (some I wouldn't match ever) and you are cranking through them easily. I saw that you passed one of my times four or so hours ago, tryed to find the ghost in your history, and discovered that it had already been covered up by many other equally impressive ghosts. Very very impressive.
big update: I now have leaderboard positions on 2/3s of ALL community classics. If you pick a random number between 1001 and 11106 and go to that track ID I will be top 10 on it 2 out of 3 times (including deleted + impossible). #1: 1632 #2: 1200 #3: 896 #4: 730 #5: 616 #6: 481 #7: 386 #8: 361 #9: 254 #10: 182 N/A: 3368 Top 10's on 6738 tracks. 6738/10106 = 66.67%! First pass up to ID 7250 and second pass up to ID 2300. Also worth noting that totoca has been very busy and has not been able to get around to deleting the handful of hacked times I know of.
