wishlist for a Free Rider sequel

I want to hear your opinions on what you'd like to see in a Free Rider sequel, whether it be new editor tools, vehicles, design, multiplayer, even what you'd want the name to be.

anything you think of, from the most subtle change to the most dramatic overhaul, I'd like to hear it.

I'm gonna be adding some of these ideas into the FRHD track editor with beta features, so I can get feedback on functionality, how an idea should be implemented, etc.

features so far:

• circle tool - click the circle icon on the left toolbar to try it out. on the bottom toolbar, the "Segment Ratio" slider increases or decreases the amount of lines in your circle.
• crouching biker - hold "x" key to crouch. using this movement, you can duck lower, spin faster, and jump higher.
• foreground tool - draw a shape with foreground lines to fill the shape's area with a white foreground that the player can ride behind. (bugs: filling doesn't work across drawing sectors, scenery lines are drawn on top of player)

old ghosts are saved to db (like on bhr)

some sort of anticheat
forums/discord/twitch etc integrated into db

I think it's worth discussing the possibility of removing the VIP title + the featured list. It's a toxic system & we all know it. In no other art medium in the real world are people artificially designated as "VIP" persons. And there is no "featured list" in the real world--you could argue that the list of nominees for the Academy Awards are their featured list, and it certainly is a flawed system that leaves out many films, but the voting body is ~10,000 versus the 8 or so vips maximum who vote on any given track.

Maybe make a tab instead where you can see players' "favorited" lists--everyone gets their own little featured list. And then put more emphasis on player-voted top 50 end of year list and all-time top 100. These things matter more than a feature, no? What stands the test of time.

I HAVE IDEAS JHGFDSA


1. a tool/powerup/idfk would be a powerup that switches bikes mid-track

2. maybe a brush brush because drawing backwards and slowly is annoying imo

3. track playlists (i’ve mentioned this before: https://community.freeriderhd.com/threads/track-playlists.12485/ read for more also dont mind the poll btw i was 14)

4. Skateboard, unicycle, chevy silverado idk

5. Maybe some more types of lines? Bouncy lines maybe. Maybe a line that you have to get a key or something to pass through.

6. 3D free rider hd would be cool tbh

I've never been of fan of ideas like this, it takes away from what the game was originally meant to be. Tbh tho, track playlists are a good idea. And like Volund said, anticheat, live multiplier, more customization of the game and more editor options would make the game so much more fun. Also can't forget Live Rider.

 

Yeah, but I think if some different wacky ideas were added, it wouldn't be as bad if it were implemented in a sequel rather than Free Rider HD itself imo. Volund's ideas are really cool I lobe them.

 

Update, I'm thinking maybe we just increase the voting pool to EA's too. I don't know. I realize I might have sounded kind of harsh or matter-of-fact in my original post--I'm open to discussion. I've just been reflecting lately on the power differential between us as VIPs & newer users/artists, yet I don't want to take away from an authentic, earned sense of importance from being a prolific artist...

Looking further into the Academy Awards, basically it's a group of directors who vote for nominations for Best Director, actors who nominate for Best Actor category, etc.. and then they vote for the winner. The parallel here could be: if you get one feature, you get to vote on features along with current VIPs and EAs. Or just limit it to 3 features (VIPs and EAs). Which i realize has been discussed before.

 

Oh definitely agree with the former, was discussed before too.

really cool stuff. though think this should be a separate vehicle powerup if frhd2 ever happens
