Give it an honest shot, post what you drew and it'll be better for people to give personalized advice for you.

General advice I'd give you from your SS: use references and focus more on shapes than detail in the beginning. Just draw out the shapes of stuff in your track before detailing, see if the shapes alone can be enough w/o detail. Otherwise, I think just drawing more and trying hard to accurately draw something you have a reference of(like a rock) is a great starting point.

i fixed some of the bigger structural issues but im just having a hard time drawing it well proportionally. I can create an awesome ride off of this, already have most of the plan. Just have to draw well :mad::mad:

If I were to eyeball it I'm basically doing something like this in my head: here's a red grid over the original image and then try to accurately transfer each box(1-10) to its respective canvas(blue grid). Or you could think of it as lining up two images side-by-side and then trying to draw accordingly. You would have two tabs opened one w/ frhd editor and the other w/ your image like below. Once you get the general shapes and proportions down, you can go ahead and detail:thumbsup:

This is Heracleum, his vids are a great example. It's basically what lot of us were doing back then on drawception but he was especially good at plotting down key details to capture likeliness(considering 10min):

To add to this I normally measure the dimensions of an image and translate if to Freerider so the segments measure the same.
Then you should just roughly do it so the zoomed idea looks okay then work per block

i do the same but instead of blue lines i use the scenery lines in freerider but the annoying part is when I want to have grey lines for measurement and grey lines for detail at the same time. Would be cool if freerider had another color that's only visible in the editor.

Well the experience/time spent and outcome is essentially the data to conclude stuff. Everyone's advice here stems from their experience and that of others, they are able to create a certain degree of track/drawing and know what it took/what worked to make something like that. Others who are also able to match that degree of track/drawing would prob have similar sentiments and understandings b/c they also had to go through it to reach that outcome. I don't think you have enough data to conclude that.

yeah. practice. brochacho if you draw irl chances are you know how to draw off a reference. find a reference, zoom out and draw it roughly in editor, then zoom in, draw over and add details where they should be. practice different styles especially. try hatching, cartoon, realistic, whatever you want. find the authors on here you like the most and try to imitate them. perhaps copy sections of their tracks over and over again. you don't have to publish everything you draw. and if you do make sure to give credit. there are about a million and a half things ive drawn and will never publish. and im not even that great. keep working at it man, i believe you can do much better.

the other thing to note is patience. many people just draw quickly and wonder why it doesn't look so good. I think you need to study how other authors use(d) references and how they draw things in freerider and use that to understand. And just so you know, there is nothing wrong with referencing someone elses drawings as long as you either give them credit or change it enough so that it is used as inspiration and less reference. Also there's nothing wrong with asking specific questions. like how to draw trees, leaves, rocks, water, etc. Most of the people on here are nice enough to answer you! perhaps just ask them if you can dm them first.

use the resources available to you! Volund 's compendiums, dm'ing authors (on here or disc), FRHD creators, and other threads.
    good luck!

Thanks, I do a lot of the tips you just said. Only recently (before I left) was I making serious tracks. Right now I would say I only have like 3 or 4 tracks I'm proud of.

if you're really striving to draw much better id aim for specific things at a time. You could also send me (or probably others) the code and they could give you lots of good tips!

I mean sure I 'strive' to improve but today I lost all my old tracks when my computer decided to get damaged by water (basement flooded and I left it on the ground charging rip) so kinda lost my only way to make tracks on top of all the tracks I was working on, now I really have to wait until I get my new pc. But yeah thanks, I'll ask people, perhaps even you , questions and stuff if I have them.

how do people draw such good trees? i have a map and its called the forest (its a preview) and i tried to do some detailing and i guess it looks ok but im not sure. also, i want to make some majestic looking trees with branches that hang down in the background even though that will probably take me my entire life so i need some tips that will help me draw trees that look good and dont take 15 hours to make.
