UPDATE:

So we are finally here once again. After months and months of being busy IRL, handling ghosting contests on forums and lots of other stuff, we are finally ready to publish the new update. This update has over 100 ghosts reviewed, but unfortunately we couldn't cover all of the ghosts suggested, otherwise we would never be able to finish this. We were focused on the suggestions from last year, since that would also help us make the ghosting awards later. We were able to review all of the suggestions up to January 13th of this year. Suggestions after that deadline will be pushed for the next update, that we hope to get out in not too long from now. I know it's annoying, but it is how it is. People are suggesting many ghosts every month, so we are keeping up as fast as we can.

For this update we had 3 main players reviewing the ghosts (Anonyymi, Sidewalk and myself) and some players reviewing a few ghosts and helping with tie-breakers like Calculus, Cork and Eryp. So it took a while to finish everything and get things aligned, but I think we did it in some capacity.

This time, the update will be split in 3 parts:

- The first one will be for the ghosts that we decided to not feature, that are not really matching the criteria for being featured ghosts.
- The second one will be for the ghosts that got close to being featured or that at least we think that have potential to be featured in the future with a few adjustments. It'll be the "Challenges" section. Usually the ghosts here are in tracks where we can see a potential feature, so usually beating the ghosts in this section with a clean ghost can make you get a feature in the future.
- The third section will be for the new features, with a few "Unverified Features" that we'll mention when we get to that part.

PART 1 - NO FEATURE:

It's coming to the point that to get a feature on this track, it'll need to be groundbreaking. I don't think this ghost is far from my ghost here in terms of skill, but it's definitely far from all of the 4 features here in terms of originality and creativity. And if that's the case, it needs to be considerably better to compensate that, and that isn't the case here. With that said, this is a good ghost, and you do have some potential for trickghosting for sure, you even already have one trickghost feature. So I guess you should keep trying. But maybe picking a different track could help.

FreeLander2 (5):

This is a sick ghost, but we just didn't think it was quite there. I feel like some people could replicate this if it gets featured.

PART 2 - CHALLENGES:

Anonyymi (2):

Quoting myself: "I think we need a challenge here. We had 2 yeses (Eryp and Sidewalk) and 1 no (Totoca12). Anonyymi said he understand a feature due to the competition, but he doesn't think this ghost is special, so he's fine with a no. I still think this is a good ghost and under normal conditions it would be a feature for me. Also, I know it's weird to request for a challenge in a contest track, but most people are missing a point here. There's a relatively big cut on this track that was achieved by adversitas during the Free Rider World Cup 6 (https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/921919-frwc6-group-stage-match-3/r/adversitas). It was enough to beat WrzodX at the time, but the rest of his ghost wasn't really good so the ghost didn't stand out in the leaderboard. However, after hitting the first gravity, the ghost adversitas made is over 1.1 second faster than Anonyymi's, so a sub-20 ghost is 100% possible here. With that said, I can't really vote for a feature here and I want some more people to try his cut, so for now it's a no for a feature, but it should be a challenge.". Let's make a challenge here

There's too many of them and not all of them have great recent competition, so in some cases I feel like it's fair to see if people can improve more (because it looks like it's possible) before actually featuring some of these ghosts.

Cerulean (2):

Quoting Anonyymi: "I think my ghost demonstrates pretty well that his ghost is still beatable. Needs to be deathless at least."

If you see my ghost against his (https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/5147-zmpri-rocky-track/r/cerulean/totoca12), even with a bad ghost, I only didn't beat (or at least tied with) him because I couldn't accelerate properly in a straight line at the end, haha. Not good enough. Maybe a challenge, but I don't mind a straight up no.". It might be a bit harsh, but if I could nearly tie with his ghost with a few bad attempts, I'm sure other people could do better. But the track has potential and some parts of his ghost are good, so let's make it a challenge.

CHARREDLIZARD21 (1):

The thing is that we think it's quite good, but we are not really blob experts, so we just wanted some more competition here to confirm the feature. One thing that we know is that most blob experts are not in the leaderboard, so we wanted to see if it's easy to beat CHARREDLIZARD21 here or not. If it remains unbeaten, I guess we probably can feature this, but it would be cool to see at least a couple of other great blob experts attempt this.

FreeLander2 (1):

We also couldn't quite beat him with the attempts we made, so we would like to put it as a challenge to see if this is easy to replicate or not. Based on this result we can reconsider featuring this or not doing it.

RadiumRC (1):

Quoting Sidewalk, that was more positive about the ghost: "Yep. Risks (wall bounces) put it over the line for me. Intense competition, fast throughout. Sure his start wasn’t the best but he quickly got ahead.". So overall we decided for a challenge.

RedOrBlue (1):

It could also be a potential challenge. I feel like he did great, but I'm still not quite sure if that was the fastest possible route of not. Maybe it could be cool to see more people trying this to see if his time will hold up at the top."

Setsu (1):

There was a vote for a feature here, but it wasn't unanimous, since it's way below the minimum length, so we were not sure if this was worthy one of the biggest exceptions ever or not. We'll put this is as a challenge to see if people can beat this. If no one beats him after a while (if it becomes clear people tried) we can consider featuring this. For now, no feature. To quote myself: "For the skill itself, it's good enough. But it's not long enough. We should be sure that no one can beat this to even consider an exception. So maybe a challenge for now. But I think this will end up being a no.". Let's see if I'm wrong. Epic ghost, regardless.

Stevie.T (1):
