Your FRHD Origins

When did you first find FreeRiderHD? Did you first join on CanvasRider, Black Hat Rider or any other of the other iterations?
I saw it first around 5 or more years back when a mate was playing the offline editor on their phone, nothing eventuating after that until early 2020.
How did you first find FreeRiderHD (or, if you first found it through any of the other FRHD games, how did you find them)? School? Were you bored one Saturday Afternoon and the idea of a game like FRHD struck you in the head like a thunderbolt from the heavens and you had a revelation that FRHD exists?
At a mates house and they were playing the offline editor on the laptop and told me how I could download. Downloaded it then maybe a couple weeks later I wanted to upload one and out came: https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/687855-somestreetstuff/ This was Feb 2020 I believe. The idea of a game like FRHD struck me in the head like a thunderbolt from the heavens.
Assuming you stayed on FRHD (or the other FRHD games), why did you stay? What was it that enticed you to keep playing? Was it the idea that you could create what you want? Did you find a friend on FRHD?
I had fun making and playing tracks.
When did you realise you were hooked? Hopefully you don't play FRHD into the wee hours of the morning under your bed covers.
After I joined forums, I got really into the contests etc. and won one. This was April-June period. I wasn't playing under my bed covers though.

How did you first find FreeRiderHD (or, if you first found it through any of the other FRHD games, how did you find them)? i did know about CR before i found FRHD (i think my cousin played it or something, cant really remember) but i remember my brother playing it one night and i just got hooked on it
Assuming you stayed on FRHD (or the other FRHD games), why did you stay? made ADHD brain go burrrrrr

In a way Free Rider has been one of the most constant things in my life the past like 7 years. Its always been there when I need to reset although if i get too sucked in it can have a pretty negative effect on me mental health ima be honest. (a lot of the reason I havent been as active as i used to be)

 

Started w/ CR where I think I found it through chrome apps, was met w/ CR's beautiful page and I think that's what really drew me in at first, saw a bunch of pretty tracks and wanted to make my own. Shared it w/ a buddy of mine back then who created a account fireonwater and Lambobo. We would make tracks for each other to race against and we were in our own bubble. Later on I would start noticing some of the epic tracks on CR. Remember coming across ItzChuckNorris' track and how it blew my mind. Somehow never even knew that there was a whole forum community and that the game ran deeper. Overtime we'd both lose interest and forget about CR.

Fast forward a couple years, I remember just being in my living room and suddenly thought back to CR and got super excited to revisit it, take a look at my old stuff and make new stuff. Only to find out the site was stopped and was redirected to FR3/Jumps on the Kano site. Made a weird octopus track on there and realizing how terrible FR3 was I sent a review/complaint to Kano telling them how awful it was and how they ruined CR. Would later find out about FRHD and was amazed at how ugly it was compared to CR(still is). But the editor was much better so I made a few tracks, got some initial props from Char, max, eli, and weem(lots of validation) and then got invited to BHR(thanks eli) and loved it. Got super invested and intense w/ anything trackmaking related all the way up to and still now.

i believe i joined mid 2015. if i remember correctly i played line rider briefly.

found frhd on facebook. i was redirected from some other bike game. facebook used my name irl as my username, and my mom advised me to change it. so i did by joining the forums and dm-ing char.

i enjoy track-making a lot. even during down times (took a 3 year break between 2017 and 2020) i still messed around with the editor, making edits (essentially remixing) different tracks, but chose not to publish it since i was using other tracks
it's hard to describe the friendship/community i surround myself with on frhd lol. when i got back into the game in 2020 i was surprised that almost all of them i knew were still actively interacting/playing the game, and i got to meet some really nice new ones. we talk frhd and share about personal stuff, couldn't be more appreciative - it's impossible to list all of them here, but i am eternally grateful to have met them

i remember spending 2 nights sleepless trying to finish alpha nonane, even when i was in school i was drawing the blueprint of the track. it was then that i found out that i was born a loser.
i made gravitic flux for the last round of a remix contest in 2020 after failing to make something i was satisfied with for the first two rounds, goes to show i never really grew out of the game lol

 

When did you first find FreeRiderHD? September or October 2014. Joined on an account using my first and last name. Moved accounts in 2015 for obvious reasons.
How did you first find FreeRiderHD? Originally found CR sometime in the middle of 2014. My friend showed me it, and I played a bit, but didn't think much of it at the time. In fall 2014, I got a school chromebook and a lot of people in my grade were playing FRHD from the Chrome web store, so I joined in on the fun.
Assuming you stayed on FRHD (or the other FRHD games), why did you stay? I was big into the forums during my early high school years. I loved a lot of the community, and spent a lot of time on Tinychat. Loved how the game played too. BHR being around iis probably why I began to really enjoy the gameplay.
When did you realise you were hooked? Sometime around spring 2020 when I had to sit inside all day. Remembered the friends and memories here, and came back from a long hiatus. Joined the discord server, and been around since.

fun fact: i forgot about the game for like half a year in like 2018 and I only found it again because i was tyring to find a cyriak video but I forgot his name and typed "zycerak" and it came up with the free rider hd user profile for user zycerak

my good friend waddleshoes and I had health together and He showed me frhd and I was impressed with his tracks, I decided to get better than him. ): it never happened

How did you first find FreeRiderHD? I knew a bit of JavaScript and I wanted to make a browser game. I must've looked up something like "canvas game ideas", which led me to this exact website, and that's where I found it.
Assuming you stayed on FRHD, why did you stay? I don't remember, but probably because of trackmaking rather than ghosting, because I didn't spacebar at first.
