I found FRHD in woodworking class in early 2014, when me and a friend were looking for a browser game to kill time with. We were looking through the Chrome Web Store and saw FRHD advertised there. I joined without any knowledge or prior experience on CR, BHR, FR3 etc, and we got all my other friends hooked on it for most of 2014 and 2015.
I always had a reason to stick around early on when I first started playing FRHD. I stayed originally in 2014 to race my friends, but I was also obsessed with the fact that you could make your own levels. At the time you had to pay an absurd amount of coins to upload a track, so I’d grind tracks to earn coins so I could upload tracks (campaigns didn’t exist at the time, and there were less achievements too). I first uploaded Which Way in around June/July 2014, but took a couple months off after this as I was frustrated with not knowing how to draw curves. I came back around August/September 2014, and saw that Kano opened up campaigns to the playerbase. So for the next few months, I stuck around to get a track on Trending, to get a track in any of the campaigns, and to get Official Author. Eventually in late 2015, once I had attained these goals, I wanted to get 1 feature, then 2, then… You see a pattern, I am very goal oriented and FRHD was no different, I wanted to be one of the best :’ )
But, likely more influential in keeping me around than any of these things, was that I became friends with
Skeeny in September of 2014, who told me to join the forums… And two forums accounts later, totalling 12,123 likes and 2,999 messages, here we are lol. I may have initially came for the trackmaking, but ultimately I stayed because of the friends I made on the forums (s/o Skeeny, LucJohnson and JacobCahoon)
I realised I was hooked in 2016, as I had told myself I would quit FRHD in 2016 as school would start getting more serious and FRHD was taking too much of my time… I did try to quit, and remember saying as much on BHR, but I couldn’t leave fully; the friends I had made and the tracks I had created made it impossible to leave behind. And as of right now, in 2023, 9 years after first joining FRHD, I realise I am more hooked now than ever; I want to try and get VIP, the last accolade which has eluded me. There’s something special about being one of the best in the world at something, and I don’t want to give that up. I also am surrounded by funny, inspiring, interesting people on here, which makes it easier as well!
