I'm curious, so humour me :)

When did you first find FreeRiderHD? Did you first join on CanvasRider, Black Hat Rider or any other of the other iterations?

How did you first find FreeRiderHD (or, if you first found it through any of the other FRHD games, how did you find them)? School? Were you bored one Saturday Afternoon and the idea of a game like FRHD struck you in the head like a thunderbolt from the heavens and you had a revelation that FRHD exists?

Assuming you stayed on FRHD (or the other FRHD games), why did you stay? What was it that enticed you to keep playing? Was it the idea that you could create what you want? Did you find a friend on FRHD?

When did you realise you were hooked? Hopefully you don't play FRHD into the wee hours of the morning under your bed covers.

    I'll go first
    1. I first found FRHD back in 2017, however at the time I was only introduced to the offline editor.

    2. I was introduced to FRHD (the offline editor) because practically every single guy in my year was making tracks and I thought I would join the fun. I started making a bunch of tracks during classes and at home and enjoyed it thoroughly. By 2018 everyone had stopped playing the offline editor and I was the only one making tracks for myself. Somehow even after a year I hadn't even realised that there was a whole online community of people and that FRHD was a web browser game and not just a chrome extension
    3. I kept playing because I just found the whole concept of FRHD fun. I didn't even know that there were people across the world playing it and that it wasn't just limited to my year... I was proud of what I was making, albeit the tracks were extremely bad. It was only in 2019 that I realised that there was an online community and It was then that I started playing other people's tracks and a whole new world opened up to me lol.
    4. I guess I must have realised I was hooked in late 2019. I'd stopped playing the offline editor by late 2018 and there was a solid year when I stopped anything related to FRHD. Then one day FRHD just popped into my head and I was like oh yeah I remember that thing maybe I should play that again. That led to the creation of the dantexpress account in December 2019 when I published my first track, and really ever since then I've only been more and more invested in the game, for better or for worse o-o

    Your turn!
    :D

Found on the first day of school in Sept 2008. I found fr2db was database only as fatboi1996 and then deadrising
then went to rfshq as deadrising, think it'd just changed to trackmill but don't quote me. I was a forumer. Left for a while and came back as elibloodthirst there.
Then went to the forums on fr2db (checkpoint update) and the rest was history

    1. I joined FRHD without hearing about canvas rider, bhr, or any previous free rider iterations.

    2. I actually don’t remember how or when I found this game, but my theory is that I was searching for a new bike game after Happy Wheels was blocked at school

    3. I joined in late 2016 when I was in 7th grade, and unknown to me, a bunch of my friends played it too. It took me awhile to find this out, but when I did it cemented this game pretty well into my priorities. In 8th grade, the site was blocked at school, so all of us who played moved to the offline editor. My friends are a large part of what kept me playing.

    4. I don’t know when I got hooked, but it was definitely in 8th grade. Looking back on it, we hardly did any schoolwork between all of our gaming endeavors. Middle school lmao. After 8th grade though, I didn’t play for awhile because we had to turn in our laptops. It was thanks to the pandemic that I got back into the game. Since 2020, I’ve played constantly. This game’s played a big part in my life, haha. Sadly most all my friends stopped playing once we started high school, and only one even checks the game now and then :(

I joined after finding Free Rider Jumps on a game compilation website. It had a link to click to go to the full game, and the rest, as they say, is history. I joined relatively recently in comparison to the rest of you, only a little over a year ago, so quite a while after BHR and FR2. I realized that I really liked the game, and found a friend in KONSTRUKT_mobile. Despite the copying controversy, he was a good friend and a fantastic ghoster, that challenged me to push my limits. It is because of him that I stuck with the game. Now, I have discovered a way to make tracks every once in a while, and that has only furthered my determination to stay with the game.

Free Rider 2 long af ago on addictinggames.com

How did you first find FreeRiderHD (or, if you first found it through any of the other FRHD games, how did you find them)? School? Were you bored one Saturday Afternoon and the idea of a game like FRHD struck you in the head like a thunderbolt from the heavens and you had a revelation that FRHD exists?

I wanted to play free rider 2, but addictinggames.com got blocked at school. So I searched on google and I found Canvas Rider which wasn't blocked.

Assuming you stayed on FRHD (or the other FRHD games), why did you stay? What was it that enticed you to keep playing? Was it the idea that you could create what you want? Did you find a friend on FRHD?

Being able to upload my own tracks and be able to share them with others was alluring. But what really got me hooked was the forums.

When did you realise you were hooked? Hopefully you don't play FRHD into the wee hours of the morning under your bed covers.

    1. I found free rider 2.org first, which is the best free rider because it had colours. I was around 10 at the time iirc, so that would be like 2011.
    2. I found it by searching "how to make ur own games" or something, because i loved video games and wanted to make my own but didn't know what that actually involved.
    3. Free rider seemed to my 10 y/o self a much preferable alternative to learning how to code to make video games like some nerd. I was and am a really bad track maker but i have always enjoyed making tracks. I think I was also out for plays and likes when i was a kid, a desire that was later satisfied upon my glorious creation of "pleasant ride". I love(d) seeing other people's art as well.
    4. There was a time in middle school when all I thought about was free rider 2.org, which is kind of stupid considering how much i have always sucked ass as a track maker lol. I think once when I was like 12 I did stay up all night (on a school night no less) making a track for some contest on there.

    1. free rider 3 in the school computer lab 7th grade probably early 2014
    2. there were links to FRHD on the FR3 site at the time
    3. i think originally because i was friends w nitro and RoB really early on; they both played a lot and i wanted to be like them. once i got to know people better this extended to everyone on the forums.
    4. i tried to delete my first account (minus) by changing the password to something random. i made a new account (eryp) 3 months later. also took a few breaks from the game but came back to finish a track (onyx) when i was really depressed and needed something to do with my time

    1. Found FRHD in May 2016
    2. I found it during an IT class in school, dont exactly remember the website that led me to it or what I searched to come across it
    3. Initially liked the idea racing other bikers and thought it was like typeracer where it involved real-time competitive racing, realized that wasn't exactly how it worked alongside realizing I wasnt good at ghosting. I then found you could draw your own tracks and saw how detailed some peoples art was and wanted to do the same. Made an account around the 22nd of May and a forum account shortly after
    4. Seeing how creative people were with their drawing was the reason I stayed on the game since I wanted to improve my own drawing skills
    5. Was consistently uploading from 2016 till around 2018 and then took longer breaks. But still mostly enjoy looking at other peoples art
e; If I'm correct the first ever detailed track I saw was Crypts 'Shadowland', pretty sure it was uploaded a month since

    1. I first found out about FRHD in 2018.
    2. My cousins introduced it to me.
    3. I think it was the ability to see and play so many other people's tracks, as well as create your own and watch people play them too. I made an account in December of 2019, and even though I was inactive for a while I came back every once in a while to check up on things. Another thing was seeing the featured tracks. They were so large, so filled with detail, and that really inspired me to keep creating and slowly getting better at detail. I am by no means featured-level now, but I would certainly be worse if not for the inspiration I found in tracks like Clandestine and Environ, to name a few. The community was also an aspect of it, I made some pretty good friends during the first year after I made my account. It helped that the game was way more active back then, I don't think that if I started out now I would even have stuck with it. The final reason is it was basically my first experience connecting with people on the internet. It was new, and awesome, and I loved it.
    4. I realized I was hooked when my track "Tripping Hazard" exploded overnight. I remember waking up after leaving it with 300 plays, which was already quite good for me, and seeing that it had over 2k plays next morning, and I was blown away. The thought that 2000 people would click on my track and at least begin to play it was so cool to me. I began seriously trying to improve my detail, cause even I could see it was not good, and I've never really stopped drawing tracks since. I still have so much to improve upon in my detail, that's really the reason why I mostly stopped publishing. I look at tracks from not a year ago and think, "This looks really bad, but back then it was some of my best work." It helps to see how much my detail has improved throughout the years, though I still dont have the time to commit to a feat track.

1.) My friend Kannon introduced this game to me around 2021 during our horrifying Humanity's class with a teacher that everyone called Speirdaddy.
2.) At first l thought this game was a rip-off of Line Rider, But soon found out the differences quickly.
3.) The first track came out Mini Furious very bare bones. I wasn't very interested.
4.) Then l experienced The thrill of beating friend times. And, I mean that alone was awesome ; Seeing my friends start to go nuts, and be like. "I grided that track for a whole half an hour."
5.) So it was on, I was glued but still was trash at making tracks. (messed around, lots of junk)
6.) It was summer, I did not do freerider for 2 months. I was out of the country.
7.) I was back with ideas ( not very good ones)
8.) I joined the community on 25th of Nov. (Got to talk with people with features!)
    9.) Inspiration
10.) Now working on tracks, but kind of got bored of freerider a bit. But still very involved in the community.

banger thread idea dante, love threads like this where any player can answer
    1. i only found out about frhd in late 2017 (Joined November 23 2017)
    2. Never played anything like fr2/3/cr, kinda surprising since i played games on those types of sites a ton back in like 2012/2013. i pretty much just saw an irl friend playing it and we kept racing each other on tracks and what-not.
    3. I originally didn't think I would keep on playing much, however in late 2018 i discovered the magical/horrifying world of ghosting and spacebarring and all that. that got me way more addicted, since it's such a unique speedgame to me (compared to stuff like smo koopa freerunning and kart which i was playing at the time). Even though I was ghosting a ton during this time I didn't really know anything about the community itself. That changed in september 2021, when in person school returned and i ended up getting way more hooked and actually "good" at ghosting, and started learning about the community and ofg and all that.
    4. I'd say I realized I was addicted when one day in early 2019 I spent like 5 hours in 1 day just trying to tie or beat HyperCube's legendary short climb 1.97 ghost. Doesn't even compare to how much I've grinded for other things though.... (the confused ninja)

    1. 2018. Knew about BHR, which spread to FRHD and a year after, the forums
    2. School, the competitiveness of trying to beat my friends all the time became an addiction. So many boring science lessons which could be whisked away in a matter of seconds because of a stickman riding a line.
    3. I left a while back, in 2020 since I realised I was spending too much time on screens. Focused on work, and then came back after making a new account so that I could occupy myself with something to do whilst bored.
    4. When icatallthedark16 was in my nightmares :secretcat:

    1. I started back in late 2015, in 5th grade, through the offline editor.
    2. I wanted to find games that I could play on the laptops we had in the 5th grade, and although a bunch of websites were blocked, my district hadn't yet blocked the chrome web store or the ability to install apps from there, so I could install the offline editor. I made a lot of really bad and somewhat absurdly long tracks, all of which are hopefully gone forever, and when I got a chromebook (yep, I had one before it was cool :p) at home, I decided to join the online version of the game. I didn't join the forums until a couple years later, though, since talking to strangers is scary. My username is definitely a result of my 5th grade self, but luckily it's not as bad as it could be, and although I have other usernames I like better now, I'll probably keep using this one forever.
    3. Since I've been using chromebooks as basically my only computer for like 5 years now (it's 2020, right?), FRHD has been one of the most convenient games for me for a while (and branching out is scary!), and it happens to be quite fun to play casually. During middle school, I got a school provided chromebook, and my district unblocked FRHD, so I could play with friends for a little while, so that was really fun! Additionally, as I got older, FRHD got me into coding, first with funny little userscripts and eventually larger projects. Nowadays, I'm still around mostly to make funny little mods that no one uses, but I also enjoy failing to draw anything or finish a track and grinding out random tracks with like 5 plays.
    4. I think I was most hooked when I first started, and then my feelings towards this game have just slowly been fading. When I first started, I'd play a ton on my really awful tracks in the offline editor, and around 2017-2019, I would grind a lot, but feelings change, and although I don't think I'll play FRHD for the last time anytime soon and I'm grateful for this game and its community, I'll probably never go back to those days, and that's ok! If I can ever figure out drawing, though, I'll probably get super addicted again because even without knowing what I'm doing, I really enjoy drawing in FRHD.

    1. Found out about frhd in September 2017 when I was in 7th grade.
    2. I found frhd during my seventh grade world history class using a website called crazygames on my school iPad. I think at that time I liked bike games like moto x3m so I browsed the other biking games and the rest is history.
    3. I think it's just the idea of doing and getting better at something I love doing which is drawing. Also the community, I really enjoyed playing early on by racing my friends during class and even finding friends in the community like OdysseusSupreme and Exylies
    4. I think I realized I was hooked when my school district blocked frhd on the school issued iPads and I was rushing to find other ways to log onto frhd.

I found FRHD in woodworking class in early 2014, when me and a friend were looking for a browser game to kill time with. We were looking through the Chrome Web Store and saw FRHD advertised there. I joined without any knowledge or prior experience on CR, BHR, FR3 etc, and we got all my other friends hooked on it for most of 2014 and 2015.

I always had a reason to stick around early on when I first started playing FRHD. I stayed originally in 2014 to race my friends, but I was also obsessed with the fact that you could make your own levels. At the time you had to pay an absurd amount of coins to upload a track, so I’d grind tracks to earn coins so I could upload tracks (campaigns didn’t exist at the time, and there were less achievements too). I first uploaded Which Way in around June/July 2014, but took a couple months off after this as I was frustrated with not knowing how to draw curves. I came back around August/September 2014, and saw that Kano opened up campaigns to the playerbase. So for the next few months, I stuck around to get a track on Trending, to get a track in any of the campaigns, and to get Official Author. Eventually in late 2015, once I had attained these goals, I wanted to get 1 feature, then 2, then… You see a pattern, I am very goal oriented and FRHD was no different, I wanted to be one of the best :’ )
But, likely more influential in keeping me around than any of these things, was that I became friends with Skeeny in September of 2014, who told me to join the forums… And two forums accounts later, totalling 12,123 likes and 2,999 messages, here we are lol. I may have initially came for the trackmaking, but ultimately I stayed because of the friends I made on the forums (s/o Skeeny, LucJohnson and JacobCahoon)

I realised I was hooked in 2016, as I had told myself I would quit FRHD in 2016 as school would start getting more serious and FRHD was taking too much of my time… I did try to quit, and remember saying as much on BHR, but I couldn’t leave fully; the friends I had made and the tracks I had created made it impossible to leave behind. And as of right now, in 2023, 9 years after first joining FRHD, I realise I am more hooked now than ever; I want to try and get VIP, the last accolade which has eluded me. There’s something special about being one of the best in the world at something, and I don’t want to give that up. I also am surrounded by funny, inspiring, interesting people on here, which makes it easier as well!

When did you first find FreeRiderHD? I first found FRHD last year.

How did you first find FreeRiderHD (or, if you first found it through any of the other FRHD games, how did you find them)? I found it because my friend told me about it and I started playing it with him.

Assuming you stayed on FRHD (or the other FRHD games), why did you stay? What was it that enticed you to keep playing? I don't really know why I play FRHD, there's just something about it that I love for some reason, even though I'm super bad at the game.

When did you realise you were hooked? I realized that I was hooked just in the last couple of months, when I started playing it a lot more frequently, and joined the discord and forums.

I hope to get better at the game, both in creating tracks, and being sped on tracks, learn more about the history of the game, and all the interesting little things like mods and external tools.

When did you first find FreeRiderHD? Did you first join on CanvasRider, Black Hat Rider or any other of the other iterations?

    5 to 8 years ago?

How did you first find FreeRiderHD (or, if you first found it through any of the other FRHD games, how did you find them)? School? Were you bored one Saturday Afternoon and the idea of a game like FRHD struck you in the head like a thunderbolt from the heavens and you had a revelation that FRHD exists?

I live in a small town with a K-12 school. An older guy at the school showed my friend and I FRHD when we were somewhere around 10 years old. We just made our own tracks and played in the editor and thought it was pretty fun. I made my first account and published my first track 5 years ago on an account named Krappa.

Assuming you stayed on FRHD (or the other FRHD games), why did you stay? What was it that enticed you to keep playing? Was it the idea that you could create what you want? Did you find a friend on FRHD?

I like that there is endless possibilities of what you can do in this game, both in ghosting and track making. It makes it difficult to get bored of this game.

When did you realise you were hooked? Hopefully you don't play FRHD into the wee hours of the morning under your bed covers.

When I was in 9th grade, I got into a ghosting battle with my friends on Haunted Mansion. It went on for weeks and I spent a ton of hours playing that track, trying to get the best ghost that I could. I really liked that feeling of spending a lot of time working on a ghost and it eventually turning into something I was proud of. I joined forums, started spacebarring, and when I discovered the featured ghosts thread, it immediately became my goal to get on that list. I was probably the most free rider obsessed around this time last year.
