Deciding to make this thread because of the misuse of the official featured ghosts thread. Noticed some players posting ghosts that weren't exactly feature level worthy, and some of those same players weren't posting those ghosts seriously either, which leads to longer review times for each update to the featured ghost thread.
one issue that I believe keeps causing this to happen sometimes is that there is not really a big thread for ghosting advice from some of the top players, really the only options that you have is pinging random ghosters or starting conversations with them to get advice from them

So think of this thread as just a place for these people to post their ghosts for advice and feedback, and also get tips from ghosters without having to resort to hoping they respond to an in game comment when they probably have lots of race notifications

know this thread might also become defunct in any time range, whether that be in a year or right after this message, just want to get something out there

suppose I can make a post to give an example even though it's pretty obvious:

take some time to improve your ghost before posting it in the OFG thread, and also a suggestion by Totoca12 was to also look at the leaderboard if any players pass you as well to get an idea of what they did
also don't forget to practice, that's something that can help you out really well if you want to improve your overall skill at the game
also don't worry if people steal it, just the nature of this game, but think of it as some room to improve and an opportunity to get some more practice

I'm trying to improve my tubing, but I'm struggling with staying alive in the curve at the bottom of downward tubes. A lot of the time the bike collapses. Can I have some tips for controlling speed in downward parts of tubes?

    can try
mainly for bmx, noticed one thing you did in one of your ghosts at a downtube ending:
    Screenshot 2022-06-20 201040.png

You didn't lean back early enough, so you died

One thing to suggest if you want to go faster, is to try and make sure you lean back at the right time, like this:
    Screenshot 2022-06-20 201300.png

but one thing you might want to be careful of is leaning back to early, in which case you're probably die unless you can somehow save it, an example:
    Screenshot 2022-06-20 202132.png

    results in death:
    Screenshot 2022-06-20 202236.png

another thing to recommend, if you want to make sure you don't die, and don't feel comfortable going super fast or don't care about it, you can always try going down the tube without pressing up (really only applicable up to a certain point, else you're gonna need to try and brake on downtubes if it's a really long one):
    Screenshot 2022-06-20 201603.png
sometimes I tend to do this, if I don't want to die when I'm going down a tube, here's an example of something I'd use right after this screenshot:
    Screenshot 2022-06-20 201839.png

then I'd just tube like normal
let me know if I should be more clear on anything else  also try asking some other better tube ghosters for better tips as well if you need more in-depth advice
(Ultraviolet RadiumRC Cerulean Symantec (Symantec doesn't play anymore but might give advice, I can let you know his discord, also Cerulean doesn't play much either, but he might also give advice if he's around))

for mtb, you can really only try to go fast and get lucky with your bounces, because it's much more unreliable to attempt the same strat above because of the bigger bike
really downtubes are super annoying the further down they go, because they can be really annoying to do fast, but if you just want a deathless ghost and don't care about the time all that much, then going slower works as well

    how to ghost :
use the arrow keys to move and up to go and to stop press down the left and right keys kind of makes you lean forward or backward and also to turn around you can press z. when you like go off jumps make sure the bike lands right try not to be unstable and like try to keep yourself level.

I'm a spacebar ghoster, who knows how to spacebar properly: pause, think about what keys you should press, and unpause. Pause every 0.10-0.13 seconds. But i have 2 problems:

    1. I have a problem with ghosting, especially when tubing: pausing at the wrong time (recovering to checkpoints kinda late), or dying too many times, as you can see here -> https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/781762-tubing-scoutrules/r/xgrazgr

How can you avoid dying too many times, and be kinda better at tubing? I want to get at least sub 5 at this track, and even be better at other tracks.

    2. This has nothing to do with ghosting, but is it true that you can tas without having your ghosts breaking sometimes?

Take a look at tagc's tas ghosts, for example. None of them are broken.

Meanwhile, with me (and most tasers, sometimes their ghosts break, sometimes don't), and yes, i know that doing things like going to another tab, staying too long/rewinding your checkpoints too much make your tas ghosts break. I recently spent 30 minutes in a 1 minute tas, and it didn't break, but once i spent 3-5 minutes in a 15 second ghost, and it broke.

Note: i'm not asking for tas, i already have it. I'm just asking how did that happen.

    Thanks! :)

also, sorry if i annoyed anyone with notifications, etc.

    Disclaimer:
If you don't want to spacebar (or you can't), you probably will not see crazy progress/become one of the best players.

Ok, you think you have what it takes to become a ghosting legend, this post will hopefully help you get you well on your way to reach there. Where do I start. Aight, one very important thing is to have a general goal for the day, week, month, etc. For instance, if I notice that I'm lacking in heli a bit, I might dedicate some time to working on the heli. Obviously this shouldn't be strict, it should just be a general outline of what you might possibly do. Also, set difficult, but not unrealistic goals. One thing is to have a small goal and then once you reach it, you can raise it. Like if you aimed for 3 featured ghosts and you made it there, you might start aiming for 10, then 20, instead of aiming for 20 off the bat. So if you ever get discouraged because you don't think you will hit your goals, just look at the progress you've made so far and continue to take it one step at a time.

It's important to be a versatile ghoster and ready to adapt and crush the leaderboards in any track, but it is also smart to find an area of the game you really enjoy and then practice that area more than others. Some people might not agree with me completely on this thought, but I think it is actually very helpful. If you get really good at an area of the game you understand what is needed to get good at other areas and you also have a better understanding of the physics, which leads to you getting better at areas faster. So basically what I'm saying is its good to focus on one thing at a time ig. I'm not trying to stop you from experimenting with multiple areas of the game, just saying that it you will probably get some of your goals faster. like if you just get a little better at everything, you probably won't get very many feats. but if you get really good in an area you could get a few feats in that area and then start branching out to other types of ghosting, while already being recognized as a pretty good ghoster.

Make friends in the game. It's important to have friendly rivalries to help give you motivation and improve yourself and others. Talk with people on forums about the game, on discord, in the comments sections. Experiment in the editor. Join contests. Actually, joining contests is an important one. Even if you might not perform the best, they are almost always worth your time and a lot of good competition and improvement happens during them.

I would also like to state that its better to have endurance then to be good at really short stretches. If you focus on endurance first you will get the fundamentals down and then be able to start getting more perfect runs and taking more "risks".

This isn't a very post to help you with some technical aspects of the game, just a short and sweet message about how to improve yourself. All in all, set goals for yourself, take it one thing at a time, and make some friends. It's just a game. Don't take it too seriously. Have fun. Now go touch some grass.

I do spacebar, and i think spacebarring is the way to go. Non-spacebarring depends a lot on luck.
It's kinda hard to make friends. I'm aiming on having friends (not being my alts), but rarely i get friends. Might try to friend alts of good ghosters (like i did), or just normal users, or just friend people at the friend me section on forums.
Might try to join contests. I'm not entirely sure, i have asperger's syndrom, which makes me not that interested in contests, but i might try.
    4. Didn't know about that, will try.
Yes, this is just a game, i play it for fun, it's not my job. I touched grass today for 30 mins, do i need to touch more?

Is this a joke? I don't know if she plays frhd.

    Okay.

    Thanks for the help! :)

i edited this like 5 times just because of the not using the [quote ] thing right, and putting my texts on quotes o_O

Well, i already have a lot of potential to improve in my ghosting skills. But there are still some problems.

Asperger's syndrome isn't my only problem. I actually have once cheated in an alt (not in a contest/featured ghosts, but in other ghosts in less popular tracks mostly), and got restricted back at mid 2021. I was really immature back then. I learned from that mistake, and never did that again. I also got in some other restrictions and warnings at the forums back then too, because as i said, i was immature. A lot of people have a worse point of view on people that make these kinds of mistakes.

I am also improving in a slower pace than other improving ghosters, like setsu and xenom.

I also never knew how to be good at mtb tubes. I'm decent at bmx tubes, and i got help from cerulean on bmx tubes, but even at tas ghosts, they are only fast because i do the keypresses on trial and error, until i find the fastest way for a certain segment of the tube.

Edit: I thought an admin pinned this, just because it was at 6th thread of sort by last messages lol

What are peoples tips on surviving long drops? Especially on cuts, I have found that dropping too far leads to death, even when trying to drop on the one wheel first. Are there any other things that can be done?

Do the same thing you said but braking too and leaning back a bit more. Also, BMX is way better than MTB for such big falls.
