Loved the scale of this track Max! Really stylish as a whole. Here's some CC I could give : Didn't really understand the shading you put (black areas) The 3D feel was there on most of the track, but some parts looked flat when shouldn't have Could have added a more detailed planet/moon in bg But yeah, really liked it in the end. Very unique feel.
How about: Agree with your second point, the track was less 3d at some point but I turned it more 3d near the end. Same problem I had with silent night where the beginning was 2d and then I made a 3d track out of it. That's kind of a mistake yeah. Agree with the third point as well About the first point, what exactly do you mean? The light source is a bit to the left behind the camera, so some objects cover other objects in dark. That's what the black is. Objects also get darker toward the right side because of this. I can understand that I might've forgotten some parts so that it isn't as consistent though
The thing I don't understand is the contrast it makes with the rest of the detail... Like here's a totally white area and just beside a pitch black shade? Might just be for the style, but it doesn't really come out as realistic for shadowing. Hope you understand better ^^'
Yeah it's for the style, totally. I wanted this track to have a really original style and that's why I went for this type of shading, filling in parts with black to have a nice contrast, makes it look like the entire track was drawn with a pen. It's not really realistic but I really like the look of it. I get your point though, the sudden changes might look strange to you, but it was mostly intentional
I got two nice space themed tracks to start you off, with another one on the way But if we expand this sucker to sci fi i have even more ^.^
Just something I wanted to show you guys, BHR has this 'preview' option (so did CR and FR2DB.FR) where you can zoom all the way out. I always made my tracks so that they would look good on that feature. Way back on FR2DB.FR there were no thumbnails, just the option to play or preview a trackname. People would always click the preview button to check the track out before they played it and that's why a lot of old tracks look really good zoomed out (hawnks futureroot tracks for example). Anyway, same goes for Distant Planet and Silent Night. For those who can't acces the preview feature, I made screenshots ! Spoiler Spoiler This also shows how similar the tracks are even though they're really different. I used the same layout only you start where the other track ends. Just really wanted to share this with you hint for the dev's: add the preview option
