Ok clear things up, releasing NTBF/unfinished is also considered dropping a track, it's just you released it.
Now since I owe you guys my thoughts and opinions. Note that this is all in regards to a ssatisfactory work.

Working on a track I reach a point where I question whether or not I continue. If the track isnt halfway done I finish until half of it is done then question the track. Now for me if the track is really not that great I'd rather not have spent time on it.
So...dropping the track, I've done this before. How I think of it is basically time saved or something that could have been great. If I drop it I can move on to bigger and better works. If I continue with it I can make it into something big and great. Either decision could result in a positive outcome. Here is where I take into account the time I will end up spending since this what is really the important factor. As I've made more tracks I realize how important time is. Working efficiently for me is a big deal( this is not rushing) and it should definitely be considered by all of you. Inspiration, satisfaction, and motivation can carry you throughout making a track which causes efficient work. Lack of inspiration, satisfaction, and motivation will often leave you with no clue on what to do next or no want to detail what is next.

Wrap the unfinished track into a finished track somehow, never have thought of doing this.

Continuing on with the track, usually whenever I question a track my work pace will slow down immensely. Less confidence in your work is a bad sign and if I don't feel positive as I continue on a work I drop it. Here is where motivation is key and if you aren't being motivated or satisfied as you add more and more to a track I think that is where you should stop and redo/ stop work on the track entirely. Learned this the hard way after I got up to 1000k something :p. Sometimes you just aren't in the mood to detail, in that case just take a break and hold of on it.
So kinda to wrap up my thoughts, for me it's either finish it or drop it.

I wrap it up. I don't like to scrap tracks that I've worked on for a long time.

Elibloodthirst I'm not keen on outsourcing. If I do I want complete synergy between the person I'm gonna outsource work to/accept in regards to detail, ideas, and quality. Otherwise I'll still end up disappointed, except this time not only for my work but theirs also(if they can't keep up).

For fun I decided I'll make a tutorial on some detailing stuff. It'll be an intro to more advanced detail for typical things like rocks, trees, water, etc. If anybody good wants to add on to it later I'll probably do that as well. Anybody have any requests?

Let's see, i've outsourced Deadwood to Forlorn because the styles will fit nicely and I know she's good at what she does, better than me i'd say.
I've outsourced Sahara to East because he's got the type of style i think would fit nicely with the track and want to see what he would do.
A long time ago i outsourced another track to Nasrani which I felt also lent itself to his style and abilities, too bad he never touched it.
For collabs to work you need to trust the other and they must offer something that you don't have. In all of these cases, they offered willingness to actually add to the track.

Your problem with it seems as though you don't trust others with your own work, and all I can say about that is that no one is worse than you, just different.

You're getting the idea that I think I'm superior. All I said was synergy and I implied there shouldn't be a significant skill gap :p
Edit: Also if you're gonna bug me about not outsourcing my work, that is personal choice. It doesn't suggest anything.

Not superior per say, but rather you have an idea for the track and know where you want it to go and how it should get there. We all have ideas about our tracks, and maybe because I've never really fully realized my ideas it makes it easier for me, but you need to understand that everyone gets their own ideas and you can't qualitatively compare the ideas. As long as they are executed reasonably they are equally creative and important. All I'm saying is don't handicap yourself because you'd rather stick to your plan than allow someone to make their own.

I said synergy. Nothing just about me but about us two or however many are working on this one track.

Its automatically synergetic because without the addition of another member, the track would remain unfinished. So collabing will always give you synergy even if you don't realize it.
