Regarding to Volund's post, I totally agree. Should Symantec actually prove that he's not cheating, he/she needs to use a handcam aimed at the keyboard to see what he/she is doing. (Same thing with Geometry Dash, duh.)

i reckon this is gonna be another henning blom situation
(for the 99% of people here who have 0 clue what i mean, henning was a speedrunner of another game who got caught splicing a run. he admitted that run was spliced but swore that none of his other runs were cheated, and then more cheated runs of his got discovered and he said that those were cheated but nothing else was and the cycle continued)

i'm noticing strange mouse movements for the first 30 seconds in between intervals of spacebarring, is that just a result of spacebar mashing moving the mouse, it kind of doesn't show up again later on

I doubt this says anything but it's just something to take into account ig

This is incredibly disappointing, but not all that surprising to hear after thinking about how things happened. One thing you did not address was how you cheated on stream. Maybe it wouldn't be a smart idea to put that here though - we don't want more people doing it. Interesting how you say you were just curious to see what you could do, but fail to mention you intentionally streamed it which under any normal circumstances would be to prove your legitimacy. Not only did you cheat, but you intentionally did it during what was supposed to be a stream to prove you are legit.

I personally don't think "Sorry, won't happen again" is ever enough for something like this.

I actually didn't know about the cheating on Alex-P until just a few days ago when I found messages from that whole situation. Had I known about that earlier, I would have been even more inclined to doubt Symantec's legitimacy - even before the flawless ghosts. Whether or not those 2 are the only cheated ghosts I really don't think it matters. I believe in second chances, but if you blow that second chance it should be over. Like everyone is pointing out, there is no easy way to completely prove anyone is legit. I don't think the unfortunate fact that your parents don't want you using a camera excuses you from providing proof. If for whatever reason you are unable to provide proof, tough. Even if you were allowed to use a camera, that should have been required since the first instance of cheating.

I'm just especially disappointed that you invited me to watch a stream that was supposed to prove your legitimacy only for you to play back exported inputs from what is essentially just TAS. It feels so much worse than you simply getting caught cheating. Honestly I feel somewhat betrayed (even though this scenario had been in my mind for a while).

    UPDATE REGARDING Symantec:

Hey, guys. What's up? As you guys may know by now, the user known as Symantec, that took over this thread and the ghosting community with many featured ghosts and an impressive performance in many iconic tracks, has now admitted that he cheated in 3 occasions:

    - His 2 recently featured ghosts on Bolaside II: https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/279722-bolaside-ii/r/symantec/gonb
    - His recently featured ghost on Send This To Someone You Hate: https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/858585-send-this-to-someone-you-hate/r/symantec

Those 3 ghosts are now deleted. Apparently he used external tools to export his ghosts while still in the middle of doing them and then if he died he could go back from that part and continue his ghost and eventually save it, not that different from what we have with TAS or what we had with the BHR checkpoint system. The most disappointing thing is that he even streamed completing ghosts like Bolaside II in an attempt to make us believe that his ghosts were legit, like RubeGoldberger pointed out, so this is for sure a case that requires serious penalties. Even if his other ghosts are legit, we are past the time of just taking his word on it, especially since he has enough knowledge to pull something like this off. With that said, the ghost mod team has decided on apply the following penalties for Symantec:

1 - Official Featured Ghosts thread - He's suspended from suggesting ghosts in the Official Featured Ghosts thread until further notice. Unless we have a clear way to prove his other ghosts are legit we won't even think about reconsidering this one. Also, all of his current featured ghosts will be put in the Unverified Features section in the 3rd post until further notice. We are still discussing about what we'll going to do about his records and his features if it becomes proven that he's not a legit ghoster. For now those will probably stay unchanged.
2 - Ghosting Awards thread - He's suspended from the Ghosting Awards thread (in terms of getting any awards). We were about to start discussing the Ghosting Awards from February, but since those 3 ghosts we mentioned that were discovered to not be legit were made in February, Symantec will be suspended from being considered for any of the awards and it'll stay like that until further notice. As for the awards he already won, we are putting those on hold for now, and the outcome of our reviews on the matter for the following months will determine if we'll retroactively change those or not.
3 - FRHD All-Time Top 100 Ghosters thread - He's suspended for appearing in the next FRHD All-Time Top 100 Ghosters list or the other minor specific lists until he manages to "clear his name". Since the lists are a rare thing, we won't change the ones he appeared so far right now, but that might change in the future if he doesn't prove to be a legit ghoster.
4 - Medals - Just like the awards from the Ghosting Awards and the records from the Official Featured Ghosts thread, we are still not sure about what we are going to do with Symantec's Legendary Ghoster medal for now. We might remove it later, at least for now, but we are still figuring this out.

IMPORTANT: All of these penalties will be in place until further notice and we'll only start to discuss their removal if Symantec can provide us a way to prove his ghosts are legit. One of our strongest recommendations would be ghosting all of his featured ghosts again with a handcam to prove the legitimacy of it, but he's free to think about some alternative ways. If he doesn't agree with those terms, he'll most likely have all of his featured ghosts removed, alongide all of his ghosting awards, records and medals.

Additional Penalties outside the Ghost Mod domain:

1 - Restriction on forums - He'll also be restricted on forums for a bit, so we can have some idea and control of his interactions in the game, in order to provent those things from happening again.
2 - Suspension from Ghosting Contests - For now, Symantec will be suspended from any ghosting contest I host. I can't oblige other independent contest hosts to do the same and I don't think it should be applied to Trackmaking Contests (or any other sort of contest), but that's a recommendation from me regarding ghosting contests, at least until all of this is resolved. If you are a contest host and plan to do otherwise, you are free to do it, but if the contest is related to ghosting we might not be supporting it with medals, until we are sure it's a fair move.

Also, an additional message for Symantec:

I know all of this probably sounds and feels terrible, but you need to understand that it is deserved. I know you are still very young, but we have been a bit "too lenient" with incidents of cheating in the past and we can't do it anymore. It really ruins other people's experiences with the game. You showed some improvement over the years, so I'm sure you are still a good ghoster without all of that stuff, but we can't take this lightly. You have been caught cheating with some FPS stuff in the past and after receiving a second chance you ended up cheating again, while trying to show that you were legit. Not cool, man. It might take a good while for the community to trust you again. If you are sure about your skills and intentions going forward in the game, you are welcome to try to prove that you can be a good ghoster without all of this, but it'll take a while. But more important than results in the game, you should care about stuff in real life. Apparently your parents are kind of restricting you, you seemed to have broken your fingers as well, so I feel like maybe that's a good time to analyze the time you have spent on this game and maybe try to see the reasoning for why you did what you did and the implications (or roots) it has in your actual life. You are young, so I can understand trying to be a part of something like a community, trying to be important, recognized and things like that, so it isn't anything unheard of. We had stuff like this happen in this community already. Not sure about how you are doing in school, but if your parents think that maybe you could use some time away from FRHD, they MIGHT have a point. You got some wins for being a great ghoster, but your actions on FRHD (especially after the cheating part) made you end up taking a L both online and IRL. That sucks, but that's alright. It's how life goes. Sometimes it happens, lol. It happened to me in some level. Yeah, it's a good thing that no one fully discovered what you did and you ended up revealing it yourself, so props to you for that, but if you claim that only those 3 ghosts aren't legit, why risk throwing every achievement you got in this game away because of like 2 more stars in a crown with over 100, haha? Too much ambition can be a serious issue in some instances. What happened to you today isn't the end of the world, you are not being sent to jail for this or anything. But this kind of stuff can grow on you when you are younger, so try to cut out this kind of behavior. Maybe now it's just hacking on a simple half-dead online game, manipulating some situations and things like that. But if you let this kind of behavior become normal to you, you are probably going to run into some problems in the future. So, in short, props for coming clean about it, try to avoid this kind of stuff in the future and if you want to earn your space back in the community, you better start grinding to get back what your lost, if that's really what you want. But don't forget the IRL stuff, though. School, mental health, everything has its importance, especially at this age. It's not the end of the world, good luck with whatever is happening with you IRL, parents are right in most instances in most cases (not all of them, though, but it's alright, we are all human), so maybe at least try to listen their concerns about your online activity. 13 can be a bit young for some stuff (probably not FRHD, but you get the idea), so just give it a chance. Sorry for the essay, but I hope there's something useful here.
