Auto Bracket Tournament

I've compiled a list of the 32 autos I consider the best, and put them into a bracket tournament.
In this thread, you can vote for the auto which you consider better by commenting during each match. Each match ends when 10 people have voted, or otherwise, after [roughly] a day. Detail shouldn't affect your opinion on an auto.
You can keep track of the tournament here, and I'll post matchups in the comments.

 

1st Matchup
The Forest - feels & Figured vs Continuity - weem

 

I vote The Forest - feels & Figured

 

Weem's is shorter and not nearly as detailed as Feels' but Weem's auto is definitely better. Not only is it interesting to watch unlike Feels', which is almost boring in comparison, it utilizes better creativity and harder to make sections like the spins and tighter curves. Continuity easily wins this round.

Although weem's is technically superior to feels's, I would go with the former of the two due to length. Continuity is impressive, but not nearly long enough to be the winner of the matchup imo, + I've always had a soft spot for tracks with extended wheelies/endos as I feel it shows dedication to a theme, rather than being a quick flashy show like a lot of weem's autos are. Also I know a lot of people bash on figured for copying detail from others, but at least the track is partially detailed in that regard too

 

I vote continuity, a very hard decision. but weems track was much more technical, which I place above detail in an auto contest.

 

I'd say Continuity wins this one; although feels made a nice wheelie, it does not have the same smoothness as other wheelies. A lot of times the wheels are shuddering after changing direction, and I think that ruins the detail because you become focused on the rider instead of the background. Continuity has a lot more variety to keep things interesting; a nice combination of glitches and spins and smoother wheelies. Although feels' auto has longer wheelies, the lack of variety does not suit the minute long auto, and it is more rocky than Continuity anyway.

the point of a (good) wheelie is to be creative, and make the rider go in uniqe positions that are hard to replicate when just normally riding. weem's is a tonne better in that respect. detail doesnt really matter in a good wheelie.

 

thanks for pointing this out, I should've noted it in the post. detail shouldn't affect your opinion, eg. you shouldn't vote shadowland over continuity just because shadowland has impressive detail.

also, I vote continuity. 3 more to go.

 

I agree that detail is not what makes the wheelie good. But detail that suits and simultaneously complements the flow of the auto does make it better imo, though only in really extreme circumstances where the detail is exceptional and well made. This just wasn't the case for Feels'. An auto that comes to mind when I say this is Tempest ft strat by foundations, the auto itself is good but the way it follows the body of the dragon while still looking amazing somewhat adds to the overall feel of the auto. This is a subjective opinion and not everyone will agree.

 

i probably could have expanded on what i said 'detail doesnt really matter in a good wheelie.' but yeah i totally agree with what you said ^, the detail if anything in a good wheelie compliments the actual auto. sometimes what seperates the good wheelies from the rest is the detail, but yeah, when judging a wheelie, detail imo shouldnt influence the opinion that much. and yeah tempest is that classic example of detail being utilised correctly to meld the detail and ride into a good auto.

 

I know I can't change my vote, but now I do prefer weem's auto instead because autos normally don't have a lot of detail/excessive detail. Autos are autos; don't change it up to flaunt it.

 

you can change your vote if you want to (as long as the match is still ongoing, which it is in this case), but detail shouldn't affect your opinion in a negative way either. judge the auto, not the surroundings

 

I can def see your point, the track you mentioned is the only case of that I can think of though

 

1st Matchup - Results
Continuity - weem won the 1st matchup by a decent margin - while continuity had 6 votes, the forest only had 1.

2nd Matchup
Elysian 2 - weem vs Free fall - CIorox

 

im waitinf until isekeb has a matchup that includes his track with like 6 spins and im immediately gonna vote for that lol. also this one was tougher, they are both slightly similar... voted for weem since there are more awkward positions which is cooler

 

interesting matchup. i vote for clorox's free fall because it's almost double the length of weem's elysian, it uses quite some recycling, specifically at the end, and although it's not as fast-paced as weem's, it is very satisfying to watch the rider spin, tube, and deform in fascinating manners.

i also voted for free fall because i have first on the leaderboard

 

although clorox's is longer, I like the fast-paced handling present in weem's auto. Can appreciate the various tricks present in the other auto, but weem's stuff looks marginally harder to pull off while still maintaining fluidity
