just in places you'll lose dimension if it were all grayed out(if you have shadows). If not it'll be time consuming and simply won't look as good.
Cataclysm for some reason my computer isn't letting me see any of the pictures you have (or haven't?) posted, but I drew up a quick crashing waterfall that might give you a couple of ideas of what you can, or maybe shouldn't do.
Just wanted to get some opinions, does this look like winter to you guys? Couldn't get a good tree started so I did this.
If it weren't for the snowflakes and the sheet of snow on the building I wouldn't be able to tell. Terrain is too sharp to look like there is snow.
Working on willio and Hugo's Christmas Contest. Going for some kind of underground abandoned military base that is being flooded with snow. Should be mostly cave themed with icicles and snow. Any ideas on what to do? I'm kind of stuck.
Going to be posting a jungle map soon, kind of like the map Fission by Cataclysm. I need some feedback...
What do you mean by "living" .. Does it look like it is consuming the area, like it's growing over everything?
It kinda looks like ooze, like it's sticking to things, like gelatine or slime. Instead of looking like it simply rests atop the surface, it looks like it's sticking to it.
I see. Would you say that that's a bad way to make snow? Because in the mood/feeling I'm trying to create, snow that is consuming and "sticking" to everything could help emphasize the setting I'm trying to make. Then again, if it does not look good/realistic, it could ruin the mood. What should I do? Keep going with it and see what happens? If worst comes to worse I can drop out of the contest and tell everyone it's a sewage leak.
I mean i haven't seen too much, it's hard to tell. I'd keep doing whatever you like the most. But a tip, at the top of the picture, it looks like snow has somehow managed to get inside a cave and climb the walls, which adds to that "ooze" feeling. And remember that snow will cover 100% of a surface before it begins to climb walls.
oooo even better idea, say it's some sort of mutant snow experiment which occurred in the abandoned military base. Experiment goes wrong everyone there abandons the place all that is left is the mutant snow which happened to expand. So then you'll still be able to stay in the contest
