      Well, they aren't real numbers. Two example of complex numbers are (12+i) or (34+2j). i = sqrt(-1). i^2 = -2. Making i an imaginary number.

      You didn't answer me. The answer was " real number + imaginary number = complex number " You gave an example, while I was asking for what it was!

      Well, maybe you actually meant one wants 1/2 a cup, second one 1/4 of a cup, etc. In that case, the answer is one cup.
      If your riddle is actually as it says, then the answer is infinity cups.
