i've been listening to so much cocteau twins lately that if i were to post something actually representative of what i have been listening to it would be pretty much all cocteau twins songs but im limiting myself for variety's sake. i didn't listen to them much before aside from really liking the song "candy-colored funk" but recently i have found myself exploring everything they made. they are really really good and also fit the languid early summer mood extremely well. liz fraser's vocals are mindblowing, so unique and angelic and strange and wonderful. this ep is really something else, 3 songs 12 mins total but its them at their peak... simply too good.
my ranking of their discography (only wat ive listened to): love's easy tears >= treasure = head over heels (underrated) > heaven or las vegas (overrated... but lets be real still great) > tiny dynamite > aikea-guinea > victorialand > blue bell knoll, but i like literally all of those projects a lot. its really fun to get to dig into a band that has a ton of really good stuff youve never heard before, has helped me pass some boring quarantine time for sure.

some nice african stuff, mande music! i listened to this bc people regularly speak of the big african/world music influence on early vampire weekend which i love so i decided to give some of it a try. really hits the same spot! i think this is a sound i'll have to explore more in the future because i hear a lot of what i love about other bands in here and i havent really listened to any of it.

i've posted a lot of john maus here, including stuff from this very album before but i don't care; it is what i am listening to
even though i was already a big fan of his i honestly think i was underrating this album for a long time, in recent listens i've gained a big appreciation for it. it's a lot more cohesive and consistent than i ever gave it credit for, a lot of songs which i treated as throwaways and skipped are actually low-key really good. this song is such a triumphant closer, i love it

i listened to this album again because i got a spider bite and then couldnt stop thinking about the spiderbite song (i had a little version in my head that went "i was sad that it didn't destroy you / how glad i would be / cause if it destroyed you / it would bring me glee", not very nice of him). i have very mixed feelings on the flaming lips, i think even their best albums actually hold up very poorly on a re-listen, but they undeniably have some fantastic songs hidden in there which i still enjoy. anyway this is a nice one to listen to when its hot at night with a fan blowing over you sitting in your room staring at the ceiling. also make sure to listen to sleeping on the roof right after this finishes, as intended

speaking of mixed feelings, i have never been able to really get into arca aside from a few songs (and i have tried a lot of them) even though in concept she should be right up my alley, but she also has some standout tracks that i really like. this one is new and i like it a lot, might motivate me to track down the leak for this upcoming album just to find out if i will be becoming obsessed with it when it actually releases or not

anyway i was really bored and wanted to write a lot of stuff about the music i am listening to even though i don't have very much new stuff to share whatever time to hit the post button

I was never huge on the grateful dead but have grown to respect them more as time goes on, but may favorite jerry garcia stuff is definitely the stuff he does with grisman. also the pizza tapes album with david grisman and tony rice is really cool.

if any of you like some classic rock and have never listened to the james gang i highly recommend it. Joe walsh is a great guitarist and his pre eagles stuff is awesome. One of the sweetest guitar tones on the solos in this tune

lynyrd skynyrd is great no matter what anybody says.

Always loved this entire album, but this song is one of the best on it. Such a great visual representation of the drug and how it can ruin someone's life.

An album i've just recently discovered, already it has become on of my favorites. Really nice acoustic sound with such beautiful vocals throughout. If you haven't heard this one, I definitely recommend it if you like indie/ 90's/ folk rock music.

One of the most recent albums i've been really getting into, some really good stuff throughout. This one is one of my favorites from it

Tokyo Police Club was one of the very first bands i got into, but i never actually heard the demo version of this song which used to be one of my favourites. the amateurish-style of it all makes it fun and cordial, or maybe its just nostalgic:p (also the vid was blocked in my country so i dont know if anyone would be able to listen to it. i couldnt find any other video)

new Crywank album was alright. i only listened to it from start to finish once but i've been meaning to give it another go. this song definitely stuck out as being my favourite, i also admire the lyrics

i've been listening to a lot of Au recently, probably my current favourite band atm. i dont know why ive neglected them for so long, ive first heard of them probably back in november.

i first heard of Jose Gonzalez through their cover of Heartbeats by The Knife but i never listened to any of his albums until google recommended him to me. pretty neat stuff

i am in need of new music. apple music isn't really giving me much new stuff these days, and im wearing thin on bands. plus all of the current stuff i listen to is pretty basic, i would like to expand some more. i would appreciate some recommendations from anyone :)
