The tafr account is a project by Pie42. The name "tafr" stands for Tool-Assisted Free Rider. I apologize for the second account, but I wanted to keep these ghosts separate from my legitimate ghosts. If you want to tell if a ghost is a TAG, you can look at the ghost data. Ghosts that I created with an earlier version of the script have a bunch of disconnected "backspace_up"s (but no "backspace_down"s), while ghosts made with the current version will have a section in the ghost data called "tas" that contains useful information like the number of rerecords and the total number of frames.
suggestion bcos im angy: go for efficiency and stall at the end; more entertaining than the choppy stuff ive seen and you allow room for legitimate ghosts on top of the leaderboard
then only people that see this thread can see the cool ghosts what if they dont plus most of the tracks he play were rarely completed
fair, but many tracks are seen by new players who dont understand the amount of time ghosters need to put into their leaderboard spots; without a stall, anyone would see the time as otherwise legit and wouldnt bat an eye. spacebarrers still invest more time than the tafr program, simply because we need to reset if we lose too much time to an obstacle, and pie42 doesnt even fully optimize the ghosts on the accounts. if the ghosts started to actually be /completely/ optimized, then i would be okay with no stalling at this point. i just dont see that happening and think that it's just gonna keep being no-death runs, which may look impressive, but considering that all he needs is patience, it's not that great if you look past the time and watch the ghosts.
yeah i feel like we have very different perspectives you being a pro ghoster and me being...........garbage thinking about it players not knowing what it is may be very misled into thinking that it is a legitimate player spacebarring
Pie42 I'm not on the discord, can you explain how I see the ghost data? I am concerned about people using tafr to cheat and I would feel better about that if I could see the ghost data for myself.
there's several ways to see, and I'll give you a quick rundown of the way I do it. First, you need to get the link of the ghost. We'll take https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/214439-bmx-training-facility/r/tafr for example. Then right click on something other than the track, another track, or any buttons. Something like this should pop up: click "view page source." You should be sent to something that looks like this: next, crtl+f "up_down". There you go! You can now see the ghost data for this track.
I have a TAS now with another player, and one of the big things we needed to decide was how to use it in relation to the leaderboard. Here's what we came up with: Normal TAS for trickghosts, Stalling TAS for speedrun. I figure that if it is possible to get on the leaderboard with a trickghost, even with TAS, we kind of deserve it. Just an idea for anyone else.
