i’ll list a few things to be negative about

there hasnt been a successful contest in the last 3-4 years.
the state of features in the same period has been an abundance of uninspired, unoriginal, and imprecise garbage with the occasional ntbf release from someone who can actually draw.
Its incredibly easy to draw a line here and there.
Refining becomes harder and time taking which is why no one does it anymore and the few who do run out of time and motivation.
all the actual artists from fr prime era haven’t touched the editor in ages.
the few ppl who used to make good tracks keep releasing flops.
Lets take you for example.
Your most recent feat is an emo take on a 4 year olds fridge drawing.
Above its aesthetic, the ride is godawful and fails in its attempt to replicate the 3D tracks from CR.
Since zgolex insisted on copying pinn, we’ve had more and more copies (e.g. netsik, figured) who use the same formula albeit they copy spruce which there is significant evidence for.
Don’t mind inspiration, but copies never turn out better than originals.

Now to address anyone else
There are an increasingly small number of ppl here who understand the medium enough to make a pretty track with good ride.
You probably arent one of those few if you disagree with anything I ever say.
Ideally, you prove me wrong.
But I’ve been saying the same sht for a while and no one’s proved me wrong.
you prolly arent the person to do so.

So if someone wants to run a contest, go for it.
Cynicism will prove itself correct.

All that wasted effort that could have gone into making a track. I get that this site is dying and its completely dissmal state but you could at least make an attempt to make the most of it.
Little harsh on the features, yeah whilst for the newer guys the standards aren't the most professional, they're not exactly bad. I'd rather have what we had than now but they're not ******* terrible.
Couldn't care what you think about my tracks, least I try to keep it going, I had a story to tell and I told it.

Last successful contest was the remix back in 2016 which I'm not arguing because if this place wasn't a dying game I'd never be VIP.

Yeah a lot of people copy, it's how a lot of people learn, it's not as good but because less people are here it seems more blatant. Not like your stuff doesn't look like it's lolz or anything.

Uh I mean that's it, not exactly arguing or disagreeing with it, you're not wrong but that's not the point to be made. It's your attitude about it.

if u mean wasted effort in writing a post, took like 3 min to write. I do still work on a track, slowly chip at it. if we actually complete it, me and xwinxll prolly hit 10mb. at 4.5 mb rn.
i could go into further critique of ur track but theres no point unless u really want it.
I can confirm as the host of rc5 (i think, it mightve been rc6) that hosting a dead contest is very unrewarding. I had extremely little motivation to meet deadlines and put in thoughtful reviews and scores.
Yeah copies were always around, but the environment was more competitive so they never got anywhere. Improvement is key. I dont see improvement. Lets take zgolex. His tracks still look the same because hes still replicating the same 2 tracks he did at the beginning.
Do you know why ppl copy pinn and spruce? Its because all those styles are extremely minimalistic and dont take ages to complete. Theres no motivation to improve. Improvement is a defensive justification. Copy. I encourage anyone to do so. But make your **** better than the original. I’ve seen at least a dozen copies of the tree from horror medley at this point and none of them even resemble a realistic silhouette of a tree. If you struggle to even match the original, how tf will you do better?

In order to revive the featured section, someone has to create a track that has a radically different style from anything anyone else has done before. Otherwise we’re in for a couple more copies until the game fizzles out. After all of these ‘realistic’ looking featured tracks, maybe we should try something surreal lol.

If you want to critique my track fully then go for it, it always nice to see actual cc just do it, here, pm,.the thread w/e. I don't care if you dislike it because you probably do but I'm here to learn and listen, even if I think you're a negative nelly

 

I don’t really think this forum is an accurate representation of who actually plays this game, most traffic on the database is from people who don’t have accounts who just play tracks at school or on their phone and stuff. I think what would actually encourage people to play would be to have another attempt at making a campaign. I’d be down to retry doing something like the horror contest I hosted before with another theme.

tbh we just need more support from devs and everything else will follow
that's an optimistic look but i reckon we'd have more inspiration with a new update or new development goals.

 

So I guess there's no remix contest this year then
Edit: actually nevermind, just had a look through previous contests and quite a few started in december, so there might still be a chance I suppose
