Beforehand, this is to people who both like to doodle on their tracks, or want to get into it more. It is not about detailing, but composition. If you don't know what composition is: The strategically visual arrangement of objects in a picture. The way they are placed could be crucial to the outcome of the piece. I remember playing moose-man's in 8th grade at school and thinking they were the most creative things ever. I still think they are. It does not matter how much detail or art is included, it's how you get your point across. He made kick-a$s kitchen and bedroom theme tracks. The perspective is nice, the objects are placed greatly and used to their full potential. When I mean using objects to the full potential, they are not randomly placed to fill in room. If you want to have a room scene work well, you have to make the rider use the objects realistically; jump onto them, go inside them if possible, or even both. Make the objects not just part of the bigger picture but useful to every degree. If you are one to keeping your work simple, use as few drawn objects that you need, but get the most out of them. My example The biker could ride under the umbrellas, and also on top of them to get to another area of the beach. Moral to the story: You don't need excessive detail or art to prove a point. Thanks for reading!
Very good explanation, listen to the expert new and upcoming authors.... Also I can't see the link....nvm
Sorry guys, I forgot that it wouldn't work I'll edit it in. Also, thanks LucJohnson ! edit: reading it again, it sounds like I'm being kind of rude >.< I was just really "into the writing" haha I hope you all understand
are my war tracks bad in this respect? You see detailing them gets SO monotonous. Am I doing something WRONG
Its probably more to do with getting better at what detail needs to be made. Its stripping back the unnecessary lines and leaving clean detail. Like in your track http://www.freeriderhd.com/t/64765-war-3-paratrooper-reloaded the plane at the start has lines on the outside of it that dont need to exist - itd look cleaner with alot less lines. Dont be afraid of empty space, arms beach track has alot of empty space but is still detailed and more importantly stylish
For your ground detail you should stop putting straight grey lines horizontally across your track if you want to make it more realistic.
FREEZ no, your war tracks are nice and fun This message was mainly for people who are afraid to add things into their tracks because the standards for detailing are a lot different than they used to be. It's ok to not have a lot and still look nice. Also this approach seems forgotten or buried in the pre-2010 era and it'd be fun to see more of these again!
In my opinion, when the rider uses too many elements of the track, it ruins the realism. >It is not about detailing, but composition. Couldn't agree more on this one though.
It's about whatever you want to make from it. If some people want to go for extreme realism, without being super imaginative, that's just as good.
Well, if you imagine something to be realistic and life life. then you're imagining it because it's your depiction and not a photo or real life. So no and yes in a way. It's just the type of imagination you're putting into a track.
Life life is like life like except its life likeness is like two life likenesses instead of one life likeness making it more life like than life like so we call it life life. Got it? I didn't think so.
No need to diss large pieces of art on tracks, or no art at all, of course they're great either way. But there isn't only a black and white to this game, there's a middle ground. And this is one spectrum of it.
