We have different ideas about it. I think a wall will be helpful because it will not only isolate the threat but also send a clear message to illegal immigrants who take illegal drugs across the country. I did like his video explaining his point though.

It certainly would not isolate any threats, they will just continue coming in underground tunnels, overstaying their visas, and by sea.

I agree it would send that message, but you have to remember that is not the only message it would send, and illegal aliens are not the only ones watching. In addition to our tough stance on immigration it would also show:

    1. We don't learn from history (i.e. Great Wall, Maginot Line)
    2. We are xenophobic/isolationist (remember we've already put kids in cages over this)
    3. We don't keep our promises (Mexico was going to pay for the wall, our tax dollars paying for it was not the deal)

Yes i'm kidding on the third one. However the optics of the wall are not good for our Nation.

You also have to look at the opportunity cost of the 5+ billion dollars (before the inevitable government project bloat) and what better ways we could spend that money--such as on more drones, agents, radar equipment and better equipped detainee facilities. So the question is not only "would the wall help" as I think it would, but is it the best option? Is it worth sacrificing the other solutions?

These things would certainly isolate the threat as they would eliminate illegal immigration between legal ports of entry. To say that a wall wouldn't solve ANYTHING is purely idiotic. Immigration by underground tunnels and by sea would certainly be easier to deal with and border security can quickly be improved with a wall in place. Overstaying visas is something that "tightening border security" won't solve either, so it isn't an effective argument against the border wall.
    1. We aren't fully reliant on our wall of course. It would just be a great idea.
    2. You can take it that way, but that is a clearly exaggerated falsehood. A wall per se would not send that message unless you're easily offended.

Yes, I am aware of the potential investment opportunities involving this sum of money. However, it is very feasible considering that Dems spent $11 billion dollars on stuff they didn't need. So yes, this is worth the sacrifice and the investment. The rest is based on subjective opinion.

we could build an elon mosque with that money then spend the rest on bio engineering so we can make elon mosquitos

and then elon would start selling elon muskets

wait, if the democrats spend tax money on things to improve america, and the wall is supposed to improve america, then doesn't that mean that building a wall to better america is also something we didn't need?

The Democrats never spent any money on border security measures. The wall is not what they want, but it's what we need.

What about it? You think a bunch of little muchachos would just blow up a section of the wall and storm the border security en masse? Do you think that situation is very probable? Or are you always thinking up fanciful ideas?

do you think that trump is willing to pay people to stand around every half mile that the wall covers? And pay for the food, and munitions?

It seems to me you are founding your opinions on feelings, and then selectively finding/making up facts to back up your position. Which is fine if you want to feel justified. It is not fine if you want to be right or do the right thing.

    - Obama administration spent 18 Billion on border security in 2012 alone: Source
    - Every president since George Bush Sr. has increased border spending, and most of it is already walled, including work done under the Obama administration: Source. This is a good read if you are interested in the topic of US boarder spending in general, also a good look at what a fair and unbiased article looks like, which is how we should all be getting our news. Isn't it weird how it doesn't tell you what to think...
    - In 2010 Obama and the democratic majority Senate signed/passed a special 600 million dollar bill to beef up border security. Video Source.
    - Even heavily biased Sinclair Media Group (basically just propoganda, like Fox News or CNN) states the dems have supported border spending and walls. Source.

You can not change and make up facts to suit your purposes. If you have read 1984 you'll be familiar with this "doublespeak" example: War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength. Once you can convince the people of that you can control the masses however you please. Ignorant opinions aren't just lazy, they erode the foundations of democracy.
