speedy__XD Interview! Today our main interviewer JacobCahoon interviews speedy__XD : the first author to host a successful racing contest in FRHD! JacobCahoon : Why did you pick the username speedy__XD? speedy__XD :Well coming into FRHD, I was looking for a fresh start. I had a different user name on CR but I just made tracks for myself and 2 friends to try an ghost. I never got to into the community or detailing. So now coming into the new FRHD community I wanted to start trying my hand at detailing and getting into the forum community. Also I like to stand out and not do the normal thing. SO I chose speedy__XD because it was different, had some meaning to me and would give me a fresh start. J: How long have you been playing FRHD style games? S:Well my best friend showed me FR2 in 2009 I believe. Being a BMX racer, I was instantly sucked in. I would draw tracks and send them to him along with my "quickest time" and we would go back and fourth until I made another track. Then I found canvas rider. As I said above, I mostly made tracks for me and my two (BMX) friends to race each other on. But I had a ton of fun doing it. Then I stopped playing a little after the CR track editor was shut down until I found FRHD. So I guess if you include the year or so I didn't play so much, about 5 years. J:How does it feel to be the first person to hold a successful series on FRHD? S: That feels pretty cool actually. I have always been into doing this kind of thing. So once I saw the community building up the way it was, it just made sense to me to make the series. I was surprised nobody had ever tried anything like it before. I had a lot of fun doing it and I hope that everyone else enjoyed doing it! I would say one thing though, don't start a series unless you have it well structured first and you can be sure that you will be able to check back on the deadlines. Also have your next round of a track ready to upload before the deadline. At least mostly. It is a lot easier then you would think to lose motivation halfway through and nobody wants to do half a series J: What inspires you to make your tracks? S:Well that is a good question. I really wanted to be an official author when the FRHD team first announced it. I applied with my previous CR accounts and described my track creating experience along with my intentions of improving my detailing. Well I did get to be an official author (obviously) and when I did, I found out about the first campaign contest. There was only about a week or so left. So I got really motivated to make the best track I possibly could for the campaign. I had never really tried to detail before. I looked around at other top tracks for inspiration, then went at it. The result was campaign track #8 crusin'. This track took me a ridiculous amount of time to make but it was kind of what forced me into learning detailing. Since then I have been drawing inspiration mostly from my imagination as far as actual track ideas but I have got some inspiration for objects like a rock for example, from others. I was playing Sono's "Rocky Road" and decided to try and draw a rock like that in one of my up and coming tracks. For the most part though, my inspiration comes from my imagination. Probably why a lot of my tracks look the same. J:Are you coming out with any tracks soon? S:Well sadly no. I am working full time right now as well as pursuing a BMX racing career. So couple that with my series going on now, I have no motivation or time for any new tracks. J:What is your most favorite track that you didn't make? S: Hm, well there was this track that I played once that said "beat in 5:00 for track code" at the start of the map. It looked stolen but whoever originally made it did a very good job and I enjoyed playing it and trying to beat it in under 5 minutes. (Just for fun though) Other then that, I would say 100 jumps or Mr. Snoogley's 50 jumps. I like tracks that are long where you can get an advantage from not crashing and nailing the jumps perfectly. That is why I made my track "Test of endurance" J:What is your most favorite track that you did make? S:This is a tough one. I like good detail but I also like I said, I like long tracks. What is most important to me is the flow of the jumps. I would say my four favorite tracks would be 4x racing, adrenaline rush, forbidden cave and test of endurance. 4x racing because it has some of my old CR style with a feeble attempt to detail. I used to make tracks like that with two different jumping lines. One being easier then the other but the easier one being slower. This is still one of my favorite things to do to a track and I have to resist from doing it all the time. Actually in the next track in my series, there will be one jump like this. Adrenaline rush and Forbidden cave just because of their detail. Then test of endurance because of the reasons I gave above. J:On average, how long does it take you to make a track? S:Well that depends, I will use adrenaline rush as an example. I had the track drawn in about an hour. But then it took me probably 4 hours just to do the foreground detail. I also lost inspiration in the middle. So by the time I was done going back and fourth with everything. The track took me about 3 months. I have had a ton of practice at drawing just the track. So usually it only takes me 10 minutes or so to draw a simple track like my series tracks or something like that. Now that I am better at detailing I can have tracks like that done in an hour or so. As for tracks that I actually try to detail, I am getting better. It only took me about 4 days to do my remix contest entry with probably an average of four hours a day. J:Who is your favorite author? S:Well I don't really search out tracks much. I just kind of play random, trending or challenges. I can't say I have found anyone who I really like a lot of their tracks but if I was to pick a favorite author it would have to be 3r4d0n. ========================================================================================== Main journalist/Interviewer: JacobCahoon . We'll done guys, particularly liked the speedy__XD interview! I can't wait to see more!!! Again, great job JacobCahoon FREEZ and Sono
The point is multiple people spammed it. This would not be so much of a problem, say, if the FRHD news had hundreds of readers. But instead we have around 25. And only around 13 people use the poll. And of those around 3 people are always spamming it. So it is pretty usless. Just comment here if u like the news every body ! Thanks for your input!
