Question Whats the best way to figure out if someone should be OA?

I don't think you should be able to ask for official author. If you look on Char or Brett or even Max007x, there profile pages are spammed with "can i have oa please!" or other versions of that. People are just sucking up to them and then they get official author even though the majority of their tracks are a curved line, another curved line and a star and some boosts. Another thing is that people are starting to ignore good detail. I've seen some amazing tracks with 7 likes. Lost because it didn't make it to random track. I think there should be like, dislike and a rating out of 5 or 10 about the detail. Char

 

I think char should have people volunteer to be an OA mod, so their only job would be to give out official author. Just an idea, but if some well respected, un-biased people wanted to step up, that would be awesome. I would love to help. I also think there should be an elite author status, given out like OA but for only really good people.

As long as elite authors are the ones who don't brag about it and aren't the ones who say "hm, I should be an elite author! Char?"

That is actually an amazing idea! Why did OA come about in the first place but to inflate people's egos and give bragging rights? It states nothing anymore and is rightfully overlooked. Get rid of OA.

 

All I did was ask Char. Pretty funny, huh? Char, thank you very much for my OA. It has been a blast being it. You're the best.

either... Get rid of the idea of Official Author altogether, or let active, non-biased people on the forums give out OA (like me)

Hey, not trying to be mean or roast or anything, but everything you suggested is somewhere in the thread. it is really hard to get 50 subs and I posted this https://www.freeriderhd.com/t/494233-big-air-motor-course when I had 27. I think it's a decent track (compared to OA standards nowadays), but I hadn't made 10 tracks by then. I also disagree with the 'nominated by a player' thing. It's all about popularity in that case. Heck, I can't even think of 5 reasons I want OA. Um. At the time it gave me a certain title... Coins weren't really an issue for me... And I never use the teleport so wtfreak. *that moment when you realize you don't actually want OA that badly any more* Also, we've talked about Elite Author a bunch and it's a great idea. But I go back where I stand: Just take it away from everyone and redo the whole thing. It sounds downright drastic and unreasonable but in the end it will work. Well, just some stuff to think about if you have the time.
