      Hey all - what are thoughts on having an official Halloween Contest? Too soon to Halloween? Thinking we would close off entries on 31st and then take a few days to select winner(s). Award coins for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. If you guys think it is a good idea will make a broader announcement today.

      E: maybe not, it's a short period of time for trackmaking, trackmakers won't have the time to make a track with great quality, there will probably be lots of NTBFs.

      It's waaaay too close to the deadline. From past experiences, tracks take weeks, if not months to make.

      How about you make it a contest with maybe not too large of a coin prize for the n1 and instead something like smaller prizes for the top 20, instead of a big halloween contest have it be like a database wide halloween challange or something? Something to also get newer people involved and people that don't visit the forum? I could see this spark some creativity on the site. Have it focused on smaller tracks instead of huge ones like the last official contest. I'd love to see that happen and I think it would work

      I would kill for another official contest, however a week would be pushing it for an entry I would be proud of. Perhaps maybe a winter/christmas themed OC would be a better idea

      getting something featurable within eight days is a bit much of a task for anyone with even remotely a life. max's challenge idea is cool, as is having a winter contest or something due by january.

      if it sparks some ideas and some good tracks no one's gonna complain

      This is from Phase. Since he is banned he wants me to post this on here.

      I like the idea, and we've been talking about it for months. I think it would be an excellent idea to make it Holiday(rather than Halloween themed). Christmas would be directly favoring Christians, so maybe if you create a Winter Holiday Themed Contest that ends on Jan 1, 2018, at midnight it would make more sense and help the quality of the tracks. I also think you should make fewer guidelines than the last official contest, so the authors can be more creative. A size minimum would also be nice.

      Example Rules:

      The track must be a 200kb minimum
      Must be an approved Winter Holiday from below:
      List of All approved Winter Holidays
      No previous wips allowed
      Due precisely on Jan 1 12:00 am PT (that's Kano's time, right?) or ET
      Must reflect at least three things to do with that holiday (examples for Christmas would be Santa, Santa's sleigh, Christmas decor, Christmas tree, Christmas wreath, reindeer, etc.)
      Must post a track in the thread, must have An Official Contest Entry in the description, If not shown on front page of the thread, pm a mod, judge, or host.
      Only one entry per author
      If featured, automatic 15000 coins
      1st 100k coins
      2nd 75k coins
      3rd 50k coins
      4th 25k Coins
      5th 10k Coins
      Notable Mentions 5k Coins

      Depending on the number of people entered, change the players that can get coins to 5th-10th.
      Halloween would be way too soon and a complete waste of an Official Contest and to make matters worse, pssst already made a Halloween Contest.
      I would suggest making a contest that has to do with every Holiday in winter this year.

      I hope you consider this for one of the the next Official Contest.

      unfortunately there is already a winter section in the campaign, but an official contest with the top ten prizes becoming campaign tracks would be ccool
