Which track? Phase's star track? If so, what was I misinterpreting? Just wanting to know, not trying to be mean or anything. Cause it's hard to understand feelings on chat

Tbh, I agree with pssst's decision to feature Stratosphere and Sky Temple, because they had quality detail and met the requirements of a featured track. It was pretty cool to see a person who is mainly a rider and not a track maker with only 59 subs to get a featured track. Stratosphere is a well detailed track, even though it is mainly a pattern. Secondly, I was surprised that Sky Temple wasn't featured earlier, even though the detail wasn't very thorough and there was an advertisement for the horror contest, I believe the lengthe of the track weighed into its feature. If it was only 15 seconds long, I would have gotten Stig on the phone and called it to be taken down. What I don't agree with pssst's decision is the featuring of Slopes in The Forest 2. If you can get away with a feature with no ground detail and barely detailed background, then I would do it now, it probably would take me less than a day, I get it was long, but it was only 73k, which I believe is the smallest track ever to get a feature. I would not be surprised if it gets unfeatured. Any track maker could make better mountains with their eyes closed with their left hand. He probably spent no effort on this track. If this is the new featured system, almost all of spruce's tracks would be featured. pssst, if you don't want to get fired, I would suggest thinking about a track for 24 hours before featuring it unless it's something sick by lolz666. What if you feature a copied track. In conclusion, I believe you are a little soft on featuring tracks, but I believe you're heading in the right direction. I think the worst you can feature is just a little worse than Sky Temple.

 

I think the time has passed where one track being featured every 4 months is acceptable. The featured track list should not be some nigh-on-impossible thing to reach, it should be a reward to those who make great tracks. So many great tracks have been overlooked because we expect everyone to be detailing like a god (see Nitrogeneric, TeamPhantom, Zgolex to an extent, etc). I think pssst being added as a FTM will help the community and up-and-coming authors to grow their skills, which is not a negative at all. Max made a post a while ago explaining how CR's feature system worked, which as far as I can tell, was quite easygoing and was aimed at encouraging players to do their best. The best authors will always be the best, regardless of how high or low the featured bar is. Now, it means that those who are learning and getting better have something to strive for, something hard to get but not something impossible.

I dont agree with this, although I understand where youre coming from. lolz's tracks and gun's track may be on the same page, however, it is obvious that lolz is leaps and bounds above him, as he is leaps and bounds above everyone else. lolz doesnt need features to know that he is a god. neither does Maple, or Stig, or anyone else of the same stature. It's the new players, the ones that spend a heap of time on a well made track but get little to no recognition for it, that need to know that they are creating stuff that is better than 99% of tracks.
I also dont think that making a feature easier to attain is a bad thing. What is so wrong with having a featured track list which is active? And I dont think that this new level will mean that anyone can whip together a track in a week and get a feature, there will still be people who work for months at a time. Everyone will still work as hard as they can, only now being rewarded with a feature is actually possible.

 

As much as I love the stricter feature level, without a sufficient amount of track makers truly worthy, the point of the feature list nullifies and becomes almost impossibls. Gotta give way somewhat, dont make it a flood rush but dont make it a desert.

if we lower the standard, creators will not try as hard.
at the same time, the feat list and feat moderator position breed elitism. good authors get big online egos and dont like to give advice.
two feat mods should agree on new additions to the list. pssst youre kind of running away with this bro. slopes, stratosphere, sky temple arent up to par. óarna is dope tho

 

^^^ look, newer creators see the list like a "cool-kids-club". people make tracks to be considered cool instead of trying to raise the bar for everyone else.
we're not that cool, we all spend a lot of time on this game, so lets help each other out....

I wouldn't consider myself one of the elite trackmakers on here. I wouldn't think of putting myself alongside many of the featured track makers. I don't think I'm low man on the totem pole either, but I've been around long enough to be decent. The new features and a lower standard to me are somewhat of a good thing. Many of us would love to get a feature, decent and bad authors alike. Considering myself pretty decent, I've made some pretty good tracks in the past, however, I never felt like I could ever do any better than any of the tracks that were on the featured list. Even if I put months of effort into a track, I didn't think I would be able to earn a spot on the list. Whether its because my detail is sloppy or I can't connect everything well, it just wasn't there. I never saw a track on featured that I knew I could do better than, which somewhat discouraged me from putting in the effort. Seeing tracks like Sky temple, Slopes in the forest, and Stratosphere get featured was super reassuring because I said to myself, I know I can do better than that.

Of course I still have to try, but I'm sure now that if I put in the effort I could beat one of those, where as before I didn't think I could. And now because of that, I'm working towards it, as a re many others I would assume. So yes, it lowers the standard more, which gives less credit to those who make it on to the list, but it also encourages those who didn't think it was worth it to put in the effort. And I really agree with Volund. It doesn't discount any of the greatest tracks we've seen. Lolz, Maple, Stig, to name a few, all of these authors tracks kinda speak for themselves through their tracks. Featuring another track will never discount their work.
