my dad was rarely around when i was younger, but when he was my parents were always fighting. that's not fun. when it first happened it felt like the world was ending, but in time i came to realize life was far better without them fighting all the time. you get used to it over time and you learn how to spend time between households. obviously you have to choose one, but once you do things settle down pretty fast. after like a year or two the only thing that really sucks (at least in my case) is that finances get a lot tighter on both ends. life goes back to normal, if not better.
