Oh absolutely. I would buy a coal-rolling diesel, take private flights for fun and buy a v8 sports car that I'd pin all the time because I don't give a sh*t about global warming. However they claim to, and still take private jets, live in highly energy consuming housing and rip around in fleets of vehicles.

I dunno maybe it's just me but I'm sick of "elites" telling me I'm bad for being who I am, for having the opinions I have, for working where I work, for having fun how I choose to, and yet they still want my money to preach to me to live less lavishly while they live *more* lavishly.

 

of course it's hypocritical and of course it's annoying, but why do you think these elites are so corrupt? money.

Yes I didn't deny that, I said I would be so enronmentally unfriendly that it would be insane. However I also don't think I would be climate change preachy either but who knows, I'm not famous and rich. All I can say is what I think would happen.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what he said but to me it sounds like he's saying that I should know better than to think these "elites" would give a damn about common folk any more than the money they can strip from them.

I'll help the people out who don't want this to continue by posting some random crap about daily life to hopefully derail this pointless debate
So I found this creepy and I don't know why but I got this FM transmitter for my truck because it's old and doesn't have aux, and it started off on 90.9 so I tuned my truck to it, and I didn't know this but there's a radio station on that frequency that I can't pick up from normal scrolling. To find the station I have to turn the transmitter to that station, tune the truck's radio and then turn off the transmitter. The station plays really weird pop-sounding basic beats with creepy, sort of "down tuned" melodies with weird whispered phrases that go on for many minutes on end, then it will usually take breaks inbetween the creepy music to play some strange PSA. Last night there was a Mel Blanc thing about hard drugs, specifically heroin. Another time it was some dude saying really weird crap about space, not scientific stuff but like weird stuff about him wanting to build a base on the moon and grow plants or some sh*t.

Strangest part; the station is crystal clear outside my mom's house, that's the only place I can hear it perfectly.

I haven't had wifi for 10 days so when I got wifi I decided to check the forums, came to the chat thread and skipped through 4 pages of boring arguments over the world's climate.

I won't disagree that they end up as a form of wealth distribution in a way. While it isn't intentional, it is a result of these kinds of agreements International politics are not completely my thing, but they end up trying to go easy on developing countries because these countries "develop slower with restrictions in place. IMO, we care way too much about people on the other side of the globe. I think the whole Paris agreement should still stand, but it should be even across pretty much every country so that the wealth distribution stay's the same. No going easy on the little guy and making the big countries suffer. So yeah, wealth distribution is a problem with carbon taxes and the like, but as the old saying goes, if a lightbulb breaks, you replace it, not buy a new house.

Amen to your comment about taxing carbon. Honestly, governments need to get over taxing as a form of reduction. Kinda like the tax on Marijuana in the US, it is pointless. People just go around the tax and buy illegally, and the same will happen in a sense with carbon emissions. Problem is that the only way to get people to reduce carbon emissions is to fine them for it, or give them grants for reducing it, and most countries, mainly the US, are too poor to offer benefits so they turn to penalizing (idk what its like in Canada).

Also, I didn't think you deliberately got a picture of the other side of the house, it just happened that way. And I hope there is no ill will in this. I don't mean to attack you personally in any way, I just enjoy a good debate, especially with someone who can be mature about it and who is knowledgeable
