Ah I'm completely placid in my contribution, or lack thereof. Was kinda hoping the younger players would take it up though

No one on the caliber of the greats.

Honestly the real detailers are just random anomaly events and none have popped up recently. Everyone here kinda trademarks a style and uses it until it's no longer impressive.

It might help, but it's not like presence is required for inspiration. There's plenty of incredible tracks out there, so either nobody has had the motivation to use that or they're not getting visibility.

what about Joelbmx ? he has pioneered a new style of detail all on his own. The way he does his "line" trees and clouds is something I and many others have never seen before. What about @mR.A ? He has created the most interesting themes I have seen in a long time. And what about WyattStonhouse? He makes massive tracks with a style of detail that is quite fresh and unique. And there is anew guy aego who makes massive track with a very new experimental detail style. Don't tell me that the older track artists are the best there will ever be, that is kind of like saying that the Ford model T is the best car that will ever be made. Us new artists have been inspired by those tracks, and have built off of them creating new more inventive tracks and themes.

I can't speak for cataclysm but I'm referring more specifically to realistic detailers. Yes, there are a few members here that make nicely detailed, rather unique tracks, but the artistry required for realism is no longer present.

Because it's not their style. Just because there are not any more realistic detailers on this website anymore doesn't mean someone has to pick it up and start detailing htat way. trust me many of the trackmakers today have the skill to start detailing tracks that way. But they choose not to because they either enjoy making tracks the way they already create them, or they just don't have enough time to shade each shadow or draw each individual leaf on a tree.

    Dandy.

Point is, there used to be a wealth of competitiveness in taking detail to the next level that isn't present anymore - now it seems much is done on a large scale, but pretty minimalistic.

yeah I think the focus of artists here has moved away from that. The forest theme has been done to no end and at the highest level it takes months to make a 10 sec track so I guess people don't really want to do even better than what's out there already

Because we have moved on. Take phones and other tech today for example. Computers used to be big and bulky and very complicated (somewhat like your tracks) as time progressed technology became more simplified and produced on a grander scale (like today's tracks). The same goes for art in museums, In the 1600's very realistic art was all the rage, you couldn't compete with other artists if you didn't make your paintings realistic enough. But as time passed art had become more diverse and original. Things are not as realistically drawn today, I don't know if that has to do with any particular reasoning or anything. Maybe people just got tired of looking at a painting that isn't very different then what they see around them all of the time.
edit; as max said why spend 10 months on a 10 second track when you can spend the same amount of time on a 10 minute track with more minimalist detail. Tracks were meant to be played, not looked at.

Not even with just forest themes. There are no realism-based portraits, art pieces, city themes, landscapes (including and excluding forests). There's just no realism period.

Sorry spruce, I don't have the energy or time to argue but your point is silly. Tracks can be made for any variety of reasons, including purely for the art, as they have been in the past. And on the internet, people aren't limited to one perspective and have unlimited communication with other people and ideas. That's why the whole progressing of theme doesn't apply here. It's not the 1600s and art isn't limited to one new developing style.

There's room for realistic detail but the fact is, nobody wants to do it. Which is unfortunate.

You are complaining because people like you who detail very realistically are too lazy to make a track, so you try to push it onto us to make realistically detailed tracks.

I think the reason there's no realism anymore is because everyone always wants to make something better then their last track, naturally, and for heavy detailers that eventually just becomes way to time consuming, at which point they quit. That's why heavy detailers always come and go.
